Computer advice....please

Hi everyone..... I have several accounts in my desktop. So, in that computer are several user accounts with unique cookies saved up for ebay and pp. It's summer time and I can already notice the machine overheating at times. So, it s only a matter of time.

I do have a laptop, and tried transferring the data via windows network, but it doesn't transfer the cookies and the doesn't have a dial up modem. So I didn't really risk logging into the accounts for fear of raising a flag for not having the unique cookies for each account, even with tethering.

My question..... Would it raise a red flag if I just get a new computer, and log in with a clean slate to the accounts (ebay and pp)....? red flags, meaning ebay and pp trying to initiate phone calls for verification? Has anyone been in a similar situation?

If not, does anyone know of an easy cloning software/hardware I can use myself, instead of having to trust a computer store to transfer the data, risk the downtime, and a possible intrusion of sensitive data being left overnight?

Thanks a million.

If your using firefox, there is an add on that you can save the cookies...

Then you can transfer them on a USB to your new laptop.

Very easy to do, no problems either. eBay happy as they think it's the same PC ;)

I use firefox on only half of my accts, but I suppose it's a good alternative. Thanks.

Dude if your computer is heating up you seriously need to open the case and clean the dust out of the heatsink. That dust collects over time and builds up in the heatsink.

The heatsink is the device that draws heat away from the processor to keep it cool. A overheating processor can cause damage to the processor. But the newer generation processors simply throttle down at first and if that does not help it will just shut down to prevent overheating damage.

You dont have to buy new anything. Actually, you will need to buy a can of compressed air. Open the case up and blow the air into the heatsink. You should be cleaning it out every month in a dusty house or every 2-3 months in a cleaner house or city. It also depends if you live in a less dusty city, like eastern US. Lots of parts of the Western US are dessert. So you need to clean it every month.

So get blowing, blow lots and blow hard.

The good thing about blowing is that is builds up the mouth muscles.

Everybody changes computers from time to time. Ebay and paypal do realize this.
You can log in from a clean slate but dont do anything unusual with the accounts. Just log in to each on from its new user accounts and browse around and such to create a history of cookies and flash cookies on your new accounts. Do this and you should be fine.
