When to give up Ebay?

I'm debating whether or not to give up ebay...

My website does 3x as much business as my ebay account does. Both website and ebay sales continue to grow (and so do my ebay fees!!). I have some pretty tough competitors on ebay with over 1000 listings. I could gear up and try to compete with them, but I'm reluctant to put my entire inventory up on ebay and pay all the fees (my competitors have all their stuff in store and all of them up for auction too, which I know they barely break even on, but make profits from their BIN through their store).

I'm trying to break into Amazon, but it thats an uphill battle, trying to get the buy box (even though our items are unique designs and so there are no other competitors for my items, I still don't get the buy box).

So at what point to you give it up ebay and just go straight website? There's also that powerseller status that I'm not sure I want to lose either

Good job on your website aaa1, you're truly free when you have a successful website and don't have to rely on eBay anymore. Feels good no?

About eBay, you could do the Modee approach... you should know what I mean. ;)

Aspkin---LOL--funny:)
(made me laugh today!!!)

For leaving ebay--I would say--when youre stocks all gone + youve set up yourself--
Cudos for getting that far--YOUVE got what alot of us yearn for!
Independence---Esp if youre Volume is there--Youve got the best of both worlds!
Good Luck! :)

LOL... I'd love to take Modee's approach, but I sell things that we design, so it would be very obvious it was still me! We take a lot of pride in our items because we do design them, so it always kills me when people try to haggle over items like a garage sale on Ebay!

If your website makes you more money then why you are even asking this question? It's completely redundant. I don't know why you're even on this forum.

Well dont put all your eggs in one basket, thats what I think. Spread them out, I used to think eBay was everything but then my thinking changed as I learn more about SEO and other methods to market on the internet.

Indeed, the policies of eBay/PayPal makes any professional or business relationship with them a very precarious one.

The online world/market/community should have and needs ever greater independence. Succumbing to large conglomerates such as eBay/PayPal decreases online choice for consumers and individuals, is anticompetitive and only enforces eBay/PayPal's position. It's the critical mass argument.

I will say this here. eBay UK's decision for sellers to couple PayPal as a mandatory payment option on listings has a legitmate anticompetitive case against itself, certainly in the EU.

I also follow the Modee way, works good for me because they try to hide your listing and screw you every chance they can, also its nice having the option to get all those nice features so you are on the front page being featured plus and highlighted my sales have increased 100% or more, thanks eBay.

I found a sight selling downloads of all the top 100 software items. Is that legal?
