auctions end at low price
 

Its october already and its getting worse,
whats going on with ebay? anyone has the same issue?

it's just the risk of using auctions

it happens to all of my accounts, dropped by 35~40%

That's why I only do BIN. I don't like to take those types of gambles.

there is always a dead spot before the holidays however i am with MM78 in that i use BIN

damn I almost had heart attack....dont really know what to do now

not to be crude but this is how sales go, if you can't take it then maybe it is not for you.

Not everyone on here can relate since I'm sure nobody's selling the exact items as you.

is it because too many auctions and less buyers trigger this?

The truth is that it is different for Everyone.
It depends HEAVILY on exactly what it is you sell,,,,

However that being said, It is NO Secret that Ebay's Sales have been eroding for quite a few years now, and it IS getting noticeable,.

I have been selling on Ebay for about 10 Years now and there is NO DOUBT it is getting Slower, that is also due to the fact that there are a LOT more sellers now than back then too, but Ebay DOES have fewer buyers now as well,,

Hope they heavily advertise this season to bring in some fresh meat.

It is the time of year when lots of company have slow sales. Q3 is usually the slowest part of the year, e.g. look at the financial reports of AMD and Intel. AMD came in way under analyst estimates and Intel had to lower it's Q3 outlook by 8-11%.

You have the US coming out of a huge recession and will take over a generation to earse from the mind set of people. All the new "jobs" that have been created pay way less now. They are mostly all service type jobs that pay less and leave people more unsatisfied.

It's not that ebay has less buyers, they might have more sellers, it's just that people have less purchasing power than years ago. And I hate to say it but it will continue until they die off or until the world has a major recession.

My sales have been getting stronger and stronger, and I list auctions almost exclusively. I get far, far less sales with buy it now; I am able to sell 200-300 of my items per day if I list them auction format but on buy it now (even at a very good price), I am lucky to get 10 buyers a day.

what time do you normally end you auctions? I ended them on Friday evening maybe that was the reason that prices were so low

Do you do all ending on friday night?

I have found that to be s l o w . I keep a log of stuff & noticed Friday is off.

Why? Many people are out enjoying not working the next day. Depending on your niche, looking at ebay & ending auctions can be the last thing on the mind of (potential) bidders.

Could you consider changing listings around? Tweaks to garner sales are needed all the time

Yea I ended 40 of my auctions on Friday night, same item with 20 minutes difference between, maybe thats another reason

In my opinion Sundays is the best day to end a auction in the evening

Thats true, i think it also has something to do with the ebay system. One of my accounts has 10 live listing with 15 hours left and for some reason its at the last page of the search...

That is also another issue that could be effecting your sales,,If your Ebay account is New or has had Violations issued to it recently, Ebay will make your listings show up deeper in search results

if you are using auctions, try to list on wednesday as i believe city workers get paid on tuesdays.

I do 1-day auctions every day from late morning until the early hours the following morning. Always get a sale these days. There is such strong demand that I am considering selling even more... 500 a day would be nice but would be an even bigger beach to package up and post out.

Check to see if your auctions are even showing up. Sometimes only half of my auctions will show up and then the next day they are all there and then some disappear again later in the week. It is the killbots pushing down or eliminating your listing to boost the Chinese powersellers.

Friday and Saturday evening are a big no-no for me. I only list BIN or list my auctions to end at 10am-12pm my time, the lunch hour, on those days.

I make up for it on Sunday, I spread my auctions out every 20min on Sunday, all day long, until 9pm (my time). I usually fill up my car's trunk on Sunday only.

But it also depends on what you sell. Women, mostly like to purchase things while at work. Men mostly like to purchase things after work.

This comes from reading many psychology reports on purchasing trends online (non of them on ebay), some books, and watching my sales.

I am already having to make at least 2 accounts every day to sell as much as I currently do. I'm not so sure that I could bring myself to create 5 a day... but then the thought of making twice as much money as I currently do makes me want to do it regardless. These days, I am proving to be the limit on how much money I make per day, not eBay.

Come to think about it, I have mirrors literally everywhere... literally every corner.

ebay is known as FLEABAY OR FLEEBAY for a reason.. a lot of ppl seem to be wary of ebay these days especially with all the chinese sellers.

I think if ebay had an auto feature to block all other countries from your search results without you clicking the box on the side would be great...

I personally find that Friday to Sunday have been huge in sales for me.

Corporate deposits happen on the Thursday midnight.

I let my auctions end on sundays in the afternoon or evening. The most buyers online then. Downside can be that other sellers may have thought of that too and many let their auctions end on sunday, so you might even get burried deeper on that day.

I do best when i let them end on sundays though, but have seen auctions having many watchers, but nobody bidding on them when they are ending.

You can end the auction early if you see that 12 hours before it ends it isn't going anywhere.

everyone has their own angles and what works for me might not work for you. you can try to take people's ideas and apply them however only through trial and error will you find your way
