I have searched high and low. Maybe not high enough :) However, can anyone answer this question?

Where can a seller/business get shipping discounts for shipping their items?

Here's an example: Collections Etc. will offer HUGE shipping discounts like $2.99 for shipping on your order no matter the size/weight of your order.

Overstock does the same thing.

I weigh all my items BEFORE I list them. When a customer uses my shipping calculator they get the correct price for shipping based on weight and their zip code. I would like to be able to offer nice shipping discounts like that without losing money. Do these companies just eat the extra or does the postal service or UPS really give them discounts?

Any ideas?

Most large company's like amazon,overstock, ect. most likely Just sign a contract with a certain company and pay a flat fee to ship all items.This isn't not really feasible.
