Watch out, unpaid item disputes cannot be filed if PayPal refunds the payment.
 

Yep, as the title says. Just happened to me. A buyer bought an item for $150, then PayPal only 10 minutes later flagged the payment as potential fraud. It took them a week to "investigate" and they returned the payment to the buyer. He hasn't responded since so I tried to open an unpaid item dispute but can't. The eBay error message says "our records show you refunded the buyer".

I contacted eBay Live Help and they said that I can't file for an unpaid item dispute (and therefor also can't get my FVF fees back) because the transaction was refunded and that it didn't matter if I refunded it or PayPal.

Wow, that's nice, so I'm stuck with almost $20 in FVF fees.

I learned my lesson with this loophole a long time ago. It's just one of those things you have to get punched in the gut hard for and then you know how to avoid it in the future.

It is bad imjustme - I experienced the same thing about 2 years ago so I accepted this as a moot point.

They are pathetic companies, making money even when neither party got what was promised. PayPal now charge for refund too, just ridiculous. So when they limit you due to their abysmal "security system" and you have to refund everyone, they actually CHARGE you for doing the "right" thing.

Charging for refunds now? If it wasn't already obvious the are as crazy as a bag of snakes on profit and exploitation mania.

The people who see these infant opportunities to make even more money at EB & PP have no sense whatsoever of the septic long term ramifications of such overt trickery

At that rate, they might soon start charging you 50 cents every time you log into your PayPal account.

This is a problem some-times, most of the time they accept the cancellation request however.

A few times they didn't. Had to call Ebay to receive Final Value Fees back ( 500$ + times ).
