What do I need to purchase a shopping cart and get a hosting service to start a site?
 

I don't want my own website instead of always using ebay. I'm a complete newbie though. So do I just get a hosting service like host gator and get a shopping cart? can you recommend some carts and hosting company that are good? and how long until my website gets crawled and searchable on google and yahoo?

Most paid hosting services are okay to use and there and some excellent fee shopping carts available. But if you are a newbie and you are working alone it is going to be a long haul.

As to Google and Yahoo, it is not about when they will crawl your site it is the quality of information that you provide them to index. Unless what you propose to sell on your site is unique there is a lot of competition out there and if you get things wrong you will never be seen.

There is a lot of information out there about sites and site management so it will take time to learn. If you stick with it though it can be worth the effort.

i'm thinking about CS-cart.. Any opinion on that? and if i run some PPC campaign, would I be able to get some sales? and how much should i set for a click?

I recommend MagentoEcommerce build in many payment gateway like GCO,2CO,PP,SaveCC etc.. or you can try Magento GO - a Managed Magento hosting service provide by Magento/ebay.
If you build your own store remenber a managed hosting server indeed like MediaTemple. DO NOT use shared-hosting.
