Just a little advise for USA shippers

I Went to My local Post office to drop off my weekends selling packages. A lot of stuff.. A couple Hours later I received a Phone call from my local Post Master telling me that when you ship Media mail they (the post office) are allowed to look inside to make sure they are media mail products.

All my stuff was media, But they found that I was using some free USPS priority packaging materials to pack my items.

They let me come back & pick up everything I dropped off, & I Bought new boxes, went home & repacked everything. A lot of work especially after today's sales.

Anyway I just thought I should let Anyone That sells in the USA that the Post office is allowed to rip open your packages & see whats in there.

i told the forum a little bit ago that this was happening with media mail. in all fairness YOU tried to get one over on them. they offer a discounted rate meant for teachers ultimately and you took advantage of it. they are losing so much money they have no choice to check because a lot of people do this and they are losing money.

Media mail has always been like that for years. They have the rights to search because of cheap price. Just think if they didnt check then so many people will ship everything media mail and pay only couple of cents for it. I remember last year I tried to put one over them. I got a bunch of playboy magazines in a storage unit and sold it on Ebay. At the post office I had it boxed up to send media mail. The guy that works there asked me what was inside this box. I said magazines, he said educational magazines? I said yes, he then proceeded to open the box up and I said, aint playboy educational? Goes under the category sex-ed right? They all laughed and said no :noidea:

The USPS is struggling and trying to collect any and all dollars they feel that they are owed. They will be ripping even more packages open now because they know that people will be trying to skimp on postage due to the holidays.

I used to use the free priority boxes and wrap in brown paper. They also check those even when it is sent parcel post. I have had item arrive only to have the buyer pay for the extra postage, or they return the package to me and I have to pay the extra postage to even get the item back. Best bet is to use priority boxes to ship priority or use other boxes.

Not good to cheat the post office. They have a large team of investigators and a nice size police force. You screw them and you can end up in the low end version of club fed.
