Are ebay and paypal disputes different?

I have a customer who bought an item and filed an ebay claim because they didn't know how to use it. Once I set it up for them, they closed the ebay claim. Now a couple weeks later they've opened up a paypal claim.

I know they can only file one "not as described" claim per item on ebay, but are they allowed to file a subsequent one with paypal?

Yup, slick scammers know about this loophole and will use it against you time and again. No amount of complaining to eb or pp will rectify the situation as they will tell you they are 2 separate companies and handle matters differently.

Do they expect you to sell it and operate it for them too?

Amazing.

I don't see how it is possible. I just now tried to. Had a closed case and found the transaction in paypal and tried to file case and see if it would let me. It gave me the big red box saying "sorry there's a problem, you already filed a case, go to the ebay resolution center". So I don't know how your buyers are getting around it.

On a side note, I do have a case open with paypal and it also shows up in my ebay resolution center. So again, I don't see how your buyer is getting around that.

eBay disputes have been kinda of odd for me. I have had several of them where they said the buyer won but that I wasn't at fault and wasn't on the hook for the money. Really strange. They where both transaction under $30. I don't know if it just has to do with the eBay buyer protection and they keep track of members filing frivolous claims or really what the deal is. But paypal disputes have always been either you win or lose them at-least in my experience.

Just an update...

I actually won the paypal dispute! I just wrote that the buyer closed the ebay dispute, and how has changed her mind again. Surprisingly they sided with me.
