DBA question

Hello i got a few questions about opening a ebay account. Im about to go to court house to do the whole thing followed by bank account. My question is what happens if ebay ask for to provide documents for the account what do you do? Would i get a DBA id card or would i send in my id. Would that not link?

You want to file for a corporation probably a LLC at which point you will get articles of formation or articles of incorporation. Corporations are their own entity so it in itself won't link you on Ebay. You probably will start out with a 10/1000 limit.

It depends on what you are doing. If it is a sole proprietorship you don't need to file a DBA in all states and there are sometimes ways around it. In CA for example if your last name is part of the business name then you don't need a DBA. AZ for example it is not required. If it is a LLC or something like that you most likely do. I would goggle your state and what type of business you plan on opening. That would be the best place to start.

Also most likely eBay isn't going to ask your for a DBA card. You might have to show a business license or depending on the state sometimes a Seller Permit or whatever they call it that you have to file to collect sales tax. Also if you have a merchant account PayPal or any other one and you are not going to use your SSN to confirm the account for tax reporting purposes then you do need to get an EIN for the tax ID from the IRS. Weather you have employees or not. I would just try to read up on it as much as possible the info is largely out there. Also I don't know what kind of sales you are projecting and how big the business might be but if you are going the corporation route I would suggest maybe having a conversation with a lawyer.

Not that big mostly $5-$10 But have 100's to sell. Thats kinda why i looking into incressing limits asap. Got good info on setting up account and ein on here just no info on what to do to increase limits or what to do if documents are needed. I read places that ebay ask for I.D. and cc statement.... seeing as the address cant be my house trying to know if i need new id with different address.

You have to have at-least 10 selling feedback I believe before they will increase anything. A buddy of mine called up about a new account like 6 months ago. They want you to fax invoices for the products you are selling to increase the limits on eBay. They don't care about biz license or any of that.
