Activity: 0% Longevity: 75% | | A small victory for me and a tip for those who might get scammed by buyers
I recently had a buyer try to purchase an expensive electronic from me.
I printed the item within 24 hours. Side note: I wait 48 hours after purchase to ship and require signature conformation for anything over $100. This item was $300.
I ship his package, and it is priority mail with sig con.
I get an email of a case the person has opened claiming that they never got the item the day after it starts moving. (obvious scam)
I dont freak out, I simply go to my local post office and fill out a form 1000.
Which Re-routes the package back to any address I choose http://about.usps.com/forms/ps1000.pdf <---- info about the form.
The form is $11 but, its worth it.
I then get a nice/nasty email about how I am a 'M****f*****' and they need to get their "s***" today or face fraud charges. And how the postal carrier came to their door, scanned the package and then told him there was an issue.
I contact ebay about the scam and their account is shut down.
Buyer didn't get his item.
Buyer is now NARU.
I got my package back
case wont count against my account.
Small win. I feel great.

I did a little bit of Googling and I think this is the correct form: PS Form 1509 http://about.usps.com/forms/ps1509.pdf
USPS Package Intercept Service: Enabling Customers to Redirect Delivery of Shipments
As part of the January 22, 2012, price change, the Postal Service™ began implementing a new mailer service called Package Intercept™. Package Intercept™ is a new domestic service that replaces the current recall of mail service as follows:
Package Intercept can be used for any mailable Express Mail®, Priority Mail®, First-Class Mail®, First-Class Package Service, Parcel Select®, and Package Services, letter, flat, or parcel with a track*ing barcode.
Package Intercept is available by submitting PS Form 1509, Sender’s Request for USPS® Package Intercept Service, and paying a nonrefundable per-piece fee to initiate the process at the Post Office™ of mailing.
Items located will be redirected to sender.

Sorry about that. You are right *corrected in first post*
They had me fill out the 1000 form,
but then did the right one in front of me due to the urgent nature. I told them my item was being stolen and wasn't going to the proper recipient. The form is 1509 guys!
oompaloompa - Basically, Once the form is filled out, They place a flag in the system that there is something wrong with the package. When the carrier, sorter, machine, goes to scan the package, there is a code that tells the USPS to bring the package back for inspection. I did not know this.
Apparently, this is what customs uses to recall certain items to be re-inspected.

Small win. I feel great. | Great news hun, Good thing you knew about re-routing your packages.
I am sure there are many people that dont.
Nice win for you!!!
Do you think his account was shut down, because he has been reported doing this before?

I just sent all of the persons emails to ebay to make them aware of the situation and that I would follow this as far as I could go and I have a copy/screencap of the seller protection on my hard drive, a copy of the USPS form, and what the USPS rep told me on re-routing the package. I pulled out all of the stops with this one.

STELLAR Thank you for the info. I am so glad to have found this forum. So very much to learn here. I was a shipping mgr. for a few years and didn't know anything like that existed. We did not ship USPS though. Only FedX, UPS & DHL.

Awesome post, I had no idea. This is why I love this site. Even though I usually am trying to help other people out it is awesome to finally find something like this. If it costs $11 I would rather pay that and lose money than give a scammer any satisfaction.

Would not be a selling world if there were not dumb buyers.
Aim to always beat them. |

Same thing I asked.
It wasn't anywhere near the date stated in the auction.
I even asked the rep that and she said it could have been a glitch or an issue with the site.
I have no idea, but I wasn't waiting to find out either.

Thanks vogeltron I remember hearing about that but you reminded me. Should have a few times. Cancelled a sale last week because after the sale buyer starts to ask every question that is in the listing, after buying mind you. Good luck!

Good luck! | I looked through the feedback this buyer has left for others. This person must be the most unhappy person alive. Just complains about everything. One of those situations I would rather light the item on fire than give this a-hole the satisfaction of receiving the item.

I just got totally scammed by a buyer, and of course, eBay won't help.
Expensive electronic item, guy opens not as described case 40 days after he gets it, is unresponsive to the case, escalates to eBay, they give him the money, and I don't get the item back.
Don't want to enable scammers by going into all of the details, but I am absolutely beyond myself that eBay enables scammers.
I am going to the local police department tomorrow to file a report, but as it stands, I am out the item and $400.
