Issue with Search Optimization

Hey all.

When searching for my product, it is on the third page of best match. I pretty much did the same thing as the person who was first in the search, except less useless info in the description, a little added to the title, all item specifics filled out. (he had none)

I went to his listing and hit sell when posting my item, so I would be in the same category, etc.

I have no violations in the last 6 months also, and my account is only 6 months old. I also have 9 personal photos of the item.

Any help guys?

It also depends on your DSR and the amount of items sold. I imagine the guy on page 1 sold more items than you on page 3, so that's why he's ranked higher.

I've had newbie sellers rank higher then 2,000 100% feedback 4.98+% DSR's accounts.

Return policy and shipping times are also calculated

Hockey4928 03-30-2013 05:56 PM

The number 1 only has 25 feedback while I have 80

I also offer 1 day handling time and 14 day return policy

Hockey4928 03-30-2013 06:10 PM

And the number 2 seller has 3 feedback and was created about a week ago

stanislav 03-30-2013 06:23 PM

Exactly the same thing is happening to me now! I used to sell at least 25 items a day and now I listed it for 5 days and only sold 10 items in 2 days (2 of them did not even pay) while another schumack is selling 20-30 of the same items per day. This makes absolutely no sense ...

Hockey4928 03-30-2013 06:28 PM

Yeah.

I am going to call ebay tonight. Chances are they will be less than helpful, but in my experience if you call 3 or 4 different times you can get someone who will actually inform you with what is up.

Sameeeee boat, its pretty irritating.

Seriously I don't think this has anything to do with Easter holiday either. Could it be something to do with eBay rolling out their Cassini search engine a few days ago? I am surprised more people aren't reporting on slow sales.

@stanislav

Sellers appear to be distracted by the increased limits some have got.

Question to you, my Friend, and others with this problem

Have your accounts any infractions recently? What is the status of your seller dashboard?

I have had ONE negative feedback recently but I was still able to sell a lot. Trust me I don't think infractions affect your sales that much. It all depends what product you sell.

I used to have an account which was bellow standard and I was still getting pretty decent prices on my auctions.

Okay so here it is ....

Performance: Top-Rated
Power Seller
Policy - High
Account status - current

So as you can see it has absolutely nothing to do with any violations. Just recently my Performance level on this account was Standard and yet I kept selling at least 30 items using buy-it-now

Lets not be fooled by eBay. We know full well they are all liars. The more I research eBay the more I realize how small eBay really is. It all seems like like it's a big place with a lot of sellers but really there are only a handful of Top Rated sellers who have multiple accounts. And eBay knowingly directs traffic to them !

seems more people then just me and stan are in this boat.......... :pop2:

stanislav 04-01-2013 11:04 PM

I've spoke with my friend today who is also an eBay seller. He told me that his sales and views dropped dramatically in the past 2 weeks. He said for a typical listing he would get 120 views, now only about 50-60 views.

golden_monkey 04-02-2013 09:48 PM

yep sucky views here too, starting price doesn't seem to matter either.

I'm hanging in there but you really gota dig deep!
