Buyers not reading descriptions!!

No wonder Stealth Accounts are a must at least as a backup.

1. Buyer buys an item from me on Thursday the 28th of March. (The day before Good Friday)

2. Buyer receives the item next Thursday due to the Bank Holiday delay.

3. On the Friday buyer emails at four in the morning that the item is not as described and "that the HTML has changed" in the listing. He claims the wording AND photos have changed and describes something completely different. He wants a full refund.

You really cannot make this up.

4. I email within 10 minutes (My Iphone woke me up with the message) offering a full refund upon return.

5. I hear nothing until this morning. To....a lovely neg! The buyer emails me 10 minutes after leaving the neg apologising as he had not read my email and would have not given the neg if he had read my email first. He has decided to keep the item anyway. He then asks how to revise the feedback.

Many apologies, I needed to vent.

If buyers cant even read the descriptions and photos what hope is there?

No wonder stealth accounts are popular.

In five years of selling on EBay, I have never encountered anything like a Buyer claiming the description and photos have changed.

Well they did accept fault and are willing to revise, think on the bright side. This is actually a human being

Just another reason I dont like to sell on ebay...

donkeykong2012 04-09-2013 01:25 PM

In all honesty, I seriously wonder about the mentality of some people on EBay.

It is supposed to be simple.

All it is is buying and selling.

The effort sellers put into listings, descriptions, photos etc etc

It feels sometimes as if you are waiting to be the next lamb to the slaughter.

Sadly mentatlity problems go way further than ebay. Just master the stealth process and move on. The stress only makes it worse. Life is short

Buyers will read it to pieces to find a mistake you made but when it comes to them wanting the opposite they will kinda forget to read the important stuff.

a.v.limited 04-09-2013 02:50 PM

if you call ebay and as message on ebay messages they will probably remove feedback

donkeykong2012 04-09-2013 03:16 PM

Yes, the conversation is recorded in the messages exchanged.

Hopefully he will do the decent thing overnight.

These things are here to test us....

By the way....

To our American friends, how are sales on .com?

I keep reading visibility is up and down and totally unpredictable all the time on the .com chat rooms?

I am curious, as the UK site seems to emulate the .com site and it is causing mayhem for a lot of sellers.

For real sometimes I list clothing, then give a size. Then put in big bold letters with red to differentiate. Please view the measurements to be sure it fits. List Clearly sale is final no returns. Then I get an idiot who bought an item and didn't read. My one maybe two paragraph description was to much for them read or even skim over for the bright bold headlines. Says the item doesn't fit not my responsibility measurements are stated. I guess you can not help stupid.

Sandy D 04-11-2013 01:33 AM

No you cannot. Guess they think you are there to try things on and if they dont fit its your fault.

I had one who told me the item they pruchased really does not match their home decor and please refund shipping amount so I wont have to pay to have it return with my money.

Amazing.

That is why I coined the phrase here "professional buyer". Maybe we need one for buyer who cannot think on their own.

Or the one I had who asked me how many lines past the inch mark is 3/16ths?

Yes, we were told 30 years ago we were going to change and still the same.

Recent listing of mine had a blue item - described it well - included photos and a buyer was pestering about the shade of blue...I said looks like royal blue but I have quite a few photos up....she said it looks XXX blue (cant remember the description) - Told her thank you for the art lesson but I am a palette genius.

She then replied if the item is not in the Royal Blue of the picture and is in red or other colour, she would be VERY unhappy if she won.

She subsequently lost the auction and then e-mailed me 3 items asking when she could expect her ROYAL blue item. I had to explain 2 times that she did not win and there was only 1 item available.

She then asked me how to leave me negative feedback...
