Buyer issues after effort to do off ebay sale

I was selling some computers and they were legit, but I wanted a payment through paypal and not ebay.

The buyer then sent me this by email. He doesnt want to buy it because he does not feel good about it. He got a call from an fbi agent from the department of treasury task force asking a lot of quesitons about me.

WTH? I have not done anything wrong. I didnt even sell to him. Is this guy just making stuff up or what?

If he said that verbatim, it sounds made up because the department of treasury has their own police force called the secret service and the FBI is completely separate from them. Also what does any of your activities have to do with department of treasury. They investigate counterfeit money and other types of treasury notes.

time to block him and move on.
If there was any type of investigation going on then they would not tell the buyer anything. Someone would just be at your door taking your goods. Ebay would boot you, or you'd get a letter in the mail about a court case.

This guy is a waste of time and if your items are legit then just move it right along. Computers are something that sell very easily and another person will replace him.

I smell a scam of: "Oh the FBI confiscated my computer I purchased from you and I want a refund"

You'll probably be so scared, you'll give him the refund.

1st thing wrong was trying with an unknown buyer to do an off ebay transaction.

Buyer gave you a load of rubbish. Those specific departments mentioned are not intertwined. He tried to alarm you.

Block him.

Be much more careful in future of offering 'off ebay' transactions. Rule of thumb I have is the other party must have some 'creds' before considering a transaction.

Agree with everyone, looks like you have a Professional Buyer on your hands. What a load of horse manure!

Sounds like he is just using intimidation and scare tactics on you.

Block him out and go on.

Hopefully he will not try to pick on you again through another i d.

if you buy through ebay and you offer paypal he has every right to just pay by paypal so he is protected by ebay and paypal

Why would the FBI be contacting him about you over computers. That is the dumbest thing I have even heard of. If you were selling phakes US Marshall or Homeland Security (ICE) would be coming to your home with a warrant. This guy sounds like a scammer to me. I wouldn't feel comfortable dealing with anyone who talks crazy like this. Sounds just like future headaches or problems any way you put it. Block and don't even respond to.

Ill just ignore him. I laughed at this since most probably all my clients would of told me this if it was true.

Sounds to me a problem person who might be lying to scare you.

Avoid at all cost.

Be ready for these kind of messages - it is part of the selling and customer service.

FYI, I am going to ring up the FBI about you right now...sorry :suspicious:

astralman 04-17-2013 12:34 AM

Ok, they will probably check you too for having multiple stealth accounts so we will be buddies soon lol.

yotano211 04-17-2013 01:18 AM

FYI, rsot is in Canada, FBI does not operate in his country. They have no powers of arrest there unless told so.

The FBI are in the game with The Mounties.

The Mounties always 'get' their man.

A warrant can be arranged.

I'll use paypal for any expenses

You never know who is contacting you on eBay on drugs or drunk or some other crazy meds or something. There are some crazy folk on there from time to time. If they self identify by sending you a message that they are nuts. I always just block them. At-least for me I would rather not deal with a crazy person than go through whatever nutty world they live in. Always seems like a headache waiting to happen to me.
