Messages change for sellers

SUCKS... Really? Everytime someone sends me a message a case needs to be opened? from a damaged item, to tracking? I have to log in every time now to respond to people. It's so annoying.

There are existing threads on this. It's to do with all around protection for everyone. This is a 'record' for ya'll

When a buyer tries to contact you now to tell you an item is not as described or not received, a case is automatically opened.

Buyers can still message you. Depending on what subject matter they wish to message you about, determines whether a case gets opened or not.

SaiJin 04-13-2013 01:54 AM

NO wonder... this is becoming even more hassle...

what the hell are they thinking...

This is going to be a pain. a Buyer opened a case saying something is wrong with item yet the case says "need tracking" when there IS tracking.

This is going to cause so much problems.

hmmm that is no good, ebay is getting reaaaalllly strict, they want an amazon model. no little sellers only giant stores with little profit lots of volume.

HurricaneHuntr 04-13-2013 03:11 PM

I don't know about you... but i am thinking of opting in to the automatic returns programs. I have spent the last 3 days randomly logging in and out of ebay stealth accounts that i haven't had to log into in a month.. since i do it all via auctiva, and i only do a few withdraws a month, and even then i don't log into ebay. I suspect much more linking is going to happen because of all the logging in that will be required now to communicate with buyers. It's frustrating.. :(

as i understand the new rule , its only if they select item as not described as the subject or item not recieved. normal questions will not open cases. just gotta be proactive..

thoughts group?

Speeder33 04-13-2013 07:16 PM

i hope ebay isnt going the amazon route, i stopped selling on amazon because it was just too much trouble

rsot 04-14-2013 08:13 AM

Automatic opening of case ...spoonfeeding the buyer ugh. Where is the source of the message indicating this change?

SaiJin 04-14-2013 09:02 AM

What do you mean by "source" ?
It's in the eBay help page if you do a search on it.

actually if you go to last category and contact seller a case is not opened.

cases also go against buyers so really a poor system

Only if the case is not resolved

I wondered why the sudden increase in eBay Cases for seemingly routine questions. Crazy.

My best guess is they are looking for patterns of problems. If a seller has a high amount of items not received, or items not as described, it might prompt eBay to take a closer look at your account. In doing this they will develop, over time, an average number of cases opened vs the total number of items sold. So, going over whatever the average is could be problematic. And knowing eBay, they will NEVER disclose to us what the average percentages are. Amazon has been doing this for awhile.

Yea i had a buyer who said they just wanted to let me know that the item was missing the USB stick i was suppsed to include but didnt want to open a case didnt even know it did till after it had already opened. They were very nice closed it right away but were frustrated too because they said i had great feedback and figured it was just an oversight. Had another one who they didnt read the insustructions on booting the unit and their tv was not working with it. They just wanted to let me know so i could help but again it opened a case and when i asked why they said they didnt know it even opened a case. They just wanted help and the best option that fit in the why you want to contact the seller was not as described. They to closed the case the next day.

Hopefully ebay sees the cases closed right away. They need to change that. It needs to ask "are you sure you want to open a case. Sometimes things are solved simply by talking to the seller about the issu". ebay seems to want to kiss up to buyers and leave us sellers in the dust

This is an idiotic policy to automatically open cases for buyers - there are buyers who are sellers as well and understand this nuisance so will communicate BEFORE opening cases...great job eB :thumb: :mad2:

The sad part is the more people start doing stealth, the more there going to keep changing there policies. While its great to have more people helping us, it will also hurt us.

As new policies are placed, new stealth methods will also change. We either evolve or die.

I'm a seller and suddenly I was opening cases that I didn't want to open just for send a question (system automatically open a case). I stop selling a hot product because it was too much pain receiving every day cases because buyers questions and I didn't want to put my account at risk.
