New sellers beware!!! Of being restricted

So I recently been working on about 50 new accounts about 6 months of age. I am flawless when creating accounts now, but currently this past month or so I guess I have triggered the Ebay restriction laser. When I woke up one morning i receive so many emails about 25 to be exact from all of my different accounts and that the listing had been removed saying your account has been restricted and you have 48 hours to call in and verify Information. So I checked over all my account records to see if I maybe Inter connected IPs by mistake ut that was not the case.
I attempted to make my first call to ebay about my account, Note some times you must bull**** your way through some of these calls. (The art of persuasion) So as I am talking to the guy he started asking questions about my account then wanted to do the security test. I quickly changed the conversation over to ask more about the listing and how i should go about being a professional powerseller on ebay. He asked a few questions about the items and BOOOM Baby my account was back up and running.
The only problem with that Is I have to spend Half a day making phone calls to get accounts Back.
All of the accounts was restored even the listing was restored which I never encountered before.
But this is just some helpful information to what to expect with new sellers.
Don't get let down when your restricted, Just know that you will have to tweak a step in your process.
Never Give Up

I ALWAYS LIVE BY THIS SAYING If YOU WANT IT BAD ENOUGH YOU WILL GO GET IT!

common ebay practice they do this all the time on new accounts and 99 percent of the time you are ok with basic questions and 1 out 99 DOOOM DA DOOM

Speeder33 05-21-2013 01:42 PM

i usually time myself on these calls, takes around 10 minutes most of the time from beg to end, 10x24=240 minutes on phone with ebay, you are going to have a fun day ahead of you

What's this about?

You misread posts don't you? When you are in post overflow, you do that frequently.

This is why I love to call them before I even start selling.

I know a lot of people hate calling and say not to do it. But, I need to help and avoid the 48 hour nonsense that they are making more prominent every day.

Call, act like a noob from the number that was registered on the account and that by passes a lot of hassle.

Not a big fan of this since it's like a pre-emptive timesink (to me) but if it works for you, no sense changing the M.O.

When you call pre-emptively, do they ask any questions? Or just a fun discussion with them?

No, when you call them, they ask little to no questions at all. And I always act like I do not even know how to use a computer.

Some reps (if you sweet talk them enough) will even raise the limits without even asking.

They are eager, friendly and polite to walk you through the entire process.

25 minute conversation of how life is, kids etc. Great conversation and how I mentioned I wish I could sell more. Was told to wait and it will raise by itself. Take care sir!

Awesome  Look forward to hearing the outcome.

The thing about it, is that I believe, is that it goes to another department altogether (not even the same phone number when you call the MC 1800 number) So, you seem less inconspicuous.

Where as you are forced to call, you are an instant criminal.

the ebay system is triggered by advanced software, not humans. if you call them, are you sure these calls being logged will make the software less sensitive? maybe its just superstition lol

Doubt that the software will be less sensitive...remove that tin foil hat of yours :) it's not so tied up...your account will still be highly dependent on what you do with it activitywise

Like I said, for this specific issue as a new seller, calling won't hurt you unless you screw it up. I've been through this hundreds of times.

They have a specific protocol they operate off of in this specific occurrence. You call, They'll typically ask you about the item you listed, is it in your possession, your shipping method, are you the only one who has access to the account, do you use a drop shipper--very basic things. There is a right way to answer the questions, it's really common sense. You know what they want to hear that won't indicate anything sketchy, so answer and tell them. If you can speak well and act friendly, it will be a walk in the park. If you're a real good social engineer, you could even get your selling limits increased without any further verification.

Also make sure you have the account information already infront of you because they will ask you to verify the address on the account and your name.

GreenBean 05-25-2013 12:31 AM

This should be done only if the person calling has a great deal of confidence in their own abilities to deal with ebay.

Dont be making assumptions all users will be so skilled.

There are more reasons against doing this than there are pro-doing it.

It is up to the person to make an informed choice.

Otherwise I perceive a flurry of posts along the lines of ''I called ebay but got limited. Yet there was a post on the forum saying it was OK to do. What happened? Why did it happen to me?''

:peace:
