Anyone Else See a Rise in MC999 when you start listing?

All my accounts have been getting MC999's recently when I start selling. I have learned now to only list really low-risk items until your account gets aged and some positive feedback.

You can call in, but it is a huge waste a time and a pain, I would rather just avoid the MC999.

What about the rest of you regarding brand new accounts?

I was hit with several myself, I found that I had to do 2 key things:
1. Low risk item
2. Auction, Not BIN.

So far everything is hunkie-dorie

but how long until you list higher risk?

Until the 7th, 8th item....but that's just me.

I run 2 new accounts every week and never have received a MC999 yet.

I usually let them get 3-4 days old or until the following Sunday which is my listing day.

I only sell household usable items non branded for prices like 4.99 and let them run for 5 or 7 days to end on Sunday nights.

Never a name brand item, never a risk item etc.

I run these items until I start getting some decent feedback and then go with SOME bin and higher priced items.

how do you classify "decent" feedback? 10 or 20?

8-10 range.

The more the better of course.

Patience is key to building trust with eb and pp.

Dont do anything that draws attention and it will grow in plenty of time.

I have found that the fastest and best way to avoid MC999's is to BUY, a couple of fairly expensive ($50-$200) items and have them sent to the accounts listed address, then i will sell a few "Common" Items, that of course shows a "Real" Users pattern, but you need controll of the address of course

I also advise using really simple listings when you first sell. You don't want any fancy listings looking like you been selling before. You want to look like average joe selling a used pair of jeans and a CD or something like that. Atleast to get you initial 10 or so feedback.

buying $50 items for every account would be very very expensive in the long run

It sure would but if the items are put to good use and are necessary for living, it's pretty logical to buy

Sandy D 05-23-2013 04:23 PM

I find things to re sell all of the time on ebay for around those numbers.

Buy it, re sell it, make money and get feedback at the same time.

Not if you have a budget.

All of selling should be a carefully planned operation.

You have to spend money to make money.

Simple as that.

A seller has to do whatever is useful for them to keep the account going.

I've mentioned before that I never kick start an account as a selling account until the attached paypal is ready.

By that I mean, verified, confirmed AND had money run through it.

3. I also wait 3-4 weeks before selling

Dmshark25 05-31-2013 02:05 PM

This automatically happens to all accounts when you rush into selling , I find first fully verifying the Paypal lifting all limits than wait a week than create the ebay browse and buy couple items over couple weeks than sell, if u rush selling ebay knows they are stealth hence the mc999
