my brother gave me his 8yr old account -- advice plz

as the titel says, my brother gave me his ebay account from the year 2000.
I have yet to log into it w/o asking some advice from you all first.

he said he recently logged into it from his house (same town as me) and said it had zero feedback even though he remembers buying about 10 items with it years ago. he said he never sold anything with it.

what do you think I should do with this account?
i use aol on seperate windows user accts for all 5 of my newer accts.

Because this account is older and you want to be 100% sure you won't get it linked, I suggest speaking with Modee and asking for his help.

ty pal --I'll wait n see if he reads this thread.

myIonU 07-20-2008 02:51 PM

just make sure not to link them. You should be fine.

trig 07-20-2008 02:56 PM

what kind of perks do i have with this acct?

aspkin 07-20-2008 03:01 PM

Right, just take it easy with the account, make sure you cover your cookies and your IP address is changed before you log in. You should be fine.

Perks? Sadly, probably not much.

trig 07-20-2008 03:02 PM

i figured it could take more 'hits' than newer accts.

what about optional payment options?

philly387 07-20-2008 03:10 PM

I think you can use a merchant account and not have to fax anything over to them.

aspkin 07-20-2008 03:27 PM

Older accounts used to be able to take more... but I have a feeling eBay is getting rid of those 'grandfathered' eBay account perks.

Sadly because there is no feedback i dont think the account is worth anything more than a new account created today? Maybe im wrong?

If you start getting feedback and keep it in good standing im sure in time because of it's age already you will find it well worth it! (Perks wise)

greg2414 07-20-2008 04:31 PM

Thats interesting ;)

trig 08-20-2008 02:59 PM

well,,,,

i just looked into this account of my brothers and it is from 2/2000.
( i opened a new user acct. on my computer for it and clear everything like we're supposed to do )
(( I also use AOL broadband))

it has 11 feedback -- all 100% positive.

the only issue i see is that it uses an old email address, and I'd like to change it.
think theres a problem with this?

also, I REALLY want to use this account.
I will not use paypal with it and will send the buyer an invoice thru ccnow.
( this will mean I'll have 6 ebay accts going thru my single ccnow account)

Any other suggestions?

pm'ing me may be a good thing if you want.

jerkyboy1 08-20-2008 03:11 PM

unless you know what you're doing if you're doing anything vero or high risk you're still going to be nailed. Don't think just because you have an old account you're in the clear, now if that account had a 1,000 feedback then I would say pretty much everything would go as long as you didn't do something really stupid but be cautious.

newguy121 09-09-2008 09:29 PM

Now what about 300-400 feedbacks since 2004?

GreenBean 09-09-2008 09:36 PM

What is the significance of this post? Care to tell more?

trig 09-12-2008 01:08 PM

.

GB --huh?

one other thing.
I will have to add a dif. email address to the account -- thoughts?
Also, the ebay id name on the acct is not very appealing and I'd like to change that too -- thoughts? The ebay id is something like "runnydiaper" :(

trig 09-16-2008 10:57 AM

please reply to the above question.

philly387 09-16-2008 12:46 PM

haha, runnydiaper...that is funny. You can change your information but just be ready to provide ebay with some information if they do ask for it.

trig 09-23-2008 03:53 PM

...

i didn't change the ebay id name. (yet. I may. who knows)

I have listed on it and it's so cool seeing the options available to older accts.

things like how long you can run auctions: (1 day, 3 day, etc)
one option is "run until canceled" LOL

theres also other things available -- so cool!
