Do aged accounts have no selling limits?

Greetings,
So the million dollar question is, when did eBay first impose selling limits on eBay sellers?

Suppose they did it from 2010, are accounts created earlier than 2010 subject to these selling limits too? Because I have seen accounts being sold elsewhere which are are aged and they claim they have no selling limits. If that's the case, why do people use many stealth accounts instead just use that one account with NO boundaries.

I have a friend who has an account from 2003, he has nothing to do with eBay, just bought 3-items there and I asked him to start a listing with 1000 Quantity and a 5000 Quantity, guess what? there was no selling limit message like I usually get on my main account all the time.

Selling limits can be put into play at Ebays discretion . An account with no selling limits today could have them tomorrow, nothing is permanent , there is no exact science when it comes to Ebays decisions on these matters.

We spread our sales out for many reasons one being ebay suspends accounts all the time so why have one account selling 100 items when u can have 10 un linked accounts selling 10 items a month so that if one gets suspended you still have sales from 9 other accounts comming in rather than your business closed .

This is just one of many reasons

There is ALWAYS a limit....if you really want to know all your friend has to do is call in and they will glady tell your friend what the limit is.

not true, i have been personally told by ebay that an account has no limits by ebay this was long time ago when i was so unexperienced that i called in to ask for an account what the limits are since i wasnt able to see them for an obvious reason, there were just no limits on that account.

Whether an account has limits or not is of no matter. Because as soon as an account has activity it is pending review at any moment.

if you know how to operate makes a big difference. an aged account with enough feedback and no limits is quite a precious thing to own and everybody who deals with ebay must agree to this.

Any account can be given any limit at any time, just like any account can be suspended at any time. All part of the way EB works

I have multiple seller accounts from before 2010. They don't have any official selling limits. But I am sure if I list items to crazy or sell much more than I have in the past year I will run into trouble. Or if I list items in what they deem risky categories.

Just because an account has no selling limits I would not think it is a license to list anything. eBay still tracks everything.

eBay is honestly hypersensitive about new accounts, accounts without any activity for a while. I would not do anything crazy.

Thanks for the replies, great community!

Accounts come under review when there's a lot problems with an account like low dsrs one after another, to many opened cases in a set period of time regardless of if they were decided in your favor or not, if you fall below standard ect... other wise your clear.

Personally told by eB....hmmph wouldnt believe all the stuff they say.

Just because you cant see the limits, does not mean that there is NONE. High limits do exist but every account has a limit - whether 10 or 1 million or 10 million....at some point, you will not be able to list more (just for clarification - not to put anyone down)

Never believe what ebay rep tells you. They lie a lot.

I have a large group of no limit accounts and keep them active all the time because a sitting account will get reduced to having limits.

Several have no selling, category, pp holds etc but I work them constantly to keep them active and running.

Unless it is a written statment by ebay, it counts as nothing in my book. During a phone call, anything gets said to make the seller 'happy'.

Comes down to management of an account to determine limits, or lack there of.

I have active accounts that are not hindered by limits. They may be there, they may not. I sell to a given amount as much as possible. Like Sandy, once the accounts have matured, I keep them active on a rotating basis.

Many have reported if you do not keep accounts active in some manner they will get limits placed back on the account if they did not have any or reduced limits. Also will get pp holds in some cases.

Keep all your selling accounts active in some manner. Do not let them sit. Sitting and aging is not a good combo. Use them!
