Dont get involved in the new thing ebay is trying to do. Its a beta deal but it for listing all of your purchases in one ebay screen.
They want to scan your email and list all the items you have purchased from different websites, etc. DONT DO IT. SERIOUSLY. let that thing fail, it will BURN you baaaad. WATCH OUT FOR DANGER from ebay. DANGEROUS for STEALTH practices this is a stealth hazard!!!! Be careful |
Have not seen this, did u get this in your email KingRay? If so are there any screenshots?
Thank You for the heads up, seems super sketchy stuff....Good Try Ebay, good try! |
| jeffweico | 07-08-2013 02:57 PM | I agree. I'm sure they want this for many reasons, but mostly to market to people based on their purchases made elsewhere. |
| heil86 | 07-08-2013 02:57 PM | Agreed, Why would you want any company to have direct access to your inbox and allow them to scan for metawords? |

Thank You for the heads up, seems super sketchy stuff....Good Try Ebay, good try! | This is being advertised on the banner of the "My eBay" page. It could be elsewhere as well. I also don't know if everyone is seeing this, or only certain people. |

| JamesNorth101 | 07-08-2013 03:57 PM | Sounds like something to stay well clear of |
| An0nym0u$ | 07-08-2013 05:21 PM | ***WARNING danger trick regarding stuff.ebay.com***WARNING WATCH OUT FOR DANGER from ebay. DANGEROUS for STEALTH practices
I came across this advertisement for a website eBay has launched. They are marketing it as a 'one stop' place to keep all of your receipts from your online purchases (not just eBay) going back for years. It seems to be meant for those who have misplaced a receipt. Sounds convenient!
The catch? Well you need to link your email to the site and 'poof' it does the rest. I don't know how you feel, but I'd avoid this at all cost.
I don't want eBay having access to my email and my purchases from other sites. Seems like a new ploy on eBay's part to fish for where people are buying their merchandise from and re-selling on their site.
I would avoid this at all cost. WATCH OUT FOR DANGER from ebay. DANGEROUS for STEALTH practices this is a stealth hazard!!!! Be careful |

More likely, they want to see your purchases to target offers to you for other things you might be interested in. For example, if eBay knows that I bought "The Godfather" on Amazon, then they might want to email me a special offer for "Godfather 2" or "Goodfellas".
I don't see them using this to find people buying items for resale or anything. BUT - if they have that kind of access to your private data, they certainly COULD. I WOULD CONSIDER THIS AS AN UNACCEPTABLE RISK, ESPECIALLY FOR STEALTH! |
| GreenBean | 07-08-2013 06:49 PM | Sounds very much like Pandora's box being opened.
I refer to Sandy's earlier posts of consultants improving the ebay image. Many efforts being made by ebay to make changes.
There are implications for stealth I can see. there is a site on google for this. Read it and be careful of what it offers. It is dangerous. I will not post the url. :nono:
 AVOID !!!! |
| wiserjoe727 | 07-08-2013 08:02 PM | seems like something to avoid major red flags going up right now  |
| Sandy D | 07-08-2013 08:08 PM | King Ray is back!!!
How nice of them to want to find a way to make even more money off of us. |
| SaiJin | 07-08-2013 09:04 PM | Thread is stickied.
Thanks for the warnings |
| john456 | 07-09-2013 12:51 AM | After you have been burned and banned by ebay and all of your personal information blacklisted forever it feels creepy. |

| john456 | 07-09-2013 02:53 AM | I am starting to realize that PayPal going into space is because by 2024, eBay/PP bots will have banned the entire world population from their site.
Only people left selling will be the stealthers/big corporations.
Aliens in space will be the new market!
"DEAR MR ALIEN, GET 50 FREE AUCTIONS IF YOU SELL ITEMS TO EARTH"
