Is it risky to go over your selling limits?

I have an account that I just noticed has a 50 item/ $1250 limit which is a bit strange. Is there a penalty or risk if I create several auctions at $9.99, knowing that they'll exceed $1250 once they're completed?

Flags the account.

Will not be able to list if you exceed your limits.

May get suspended.

How does any of that grab you as being risky?

I agree with GB , if your doing this knowingly and consistently eventually they will shut you down.

If its something that happened once by accident and no listings were removed and this never happened again than your account probably is ok but as a technique or whatever your doing , ebay has those limits on you for a reason and manipulating them in any way is a serious violation

Hard to say. If you are getting all positive feedback and high DSRs eBay might fast track you to higher limits. If something goes wrong it could result in a MCC99. Especially if you go significantly over more the 10-15% what selling limits are.

It will flag the account. No need to do this.

Create another stealth and sell excess on there. Wait for limits to raise naturally to the levels you need and then list more when you get the higher limits (slowly increasing the amount you sell)

Thou shalt not do anything that draws attention to your stealth account for review by a humanoid eyes.

When you go over the limit with COMPLETED listings, eB is known to remove them after completion and e-mail your buyers saying XXXX number has been removed...we suggest not paying or something like that...which could spook your buyers

Pretty solid advice all around!

I haven't had a new account in a while. Starting stealth now. Does 10/$1000 mean you can only sell 10 items, with final value at most $1000 for an entire month?

Yes, that is correct.

Dmshark25 07-16-2013 07:56 PM

Yes and generally with at least for US accounts limits are raised after 3-4 months and of course with high DSRs

However this is not no set formula , I had accounts under 2 months with one sale 0 feedback get limit increases,

So there is also a randomness to the whole limit raises probably based on Ebays sales and projections for each quarter , when they are falling behind their projections they just give out raises randomly to stay on track for their share holders.

Once you have 30 - 40 accounts you will see how they operate

Pretty clear and to the point - 30 days +/- - can include Second Chance offers by the way...keep that in mind

Also remember that in some categories like

jewelry, you have 5 item category limit also.
