Tactic??????

spying on comp and i find that one will end every single item at 10pm EST every 2 mins till its all gone.

which normally only takes 30 mins.

is this some kinda trick or just lazyness?

JamesNorth101 07-15-2013 02:33 PM

Sorry but I don't really understand the question

Your saying the one of your competitor has items ending ever 2 mins from around 10pm until about 10:30?

What is it your asking?

rsot 07-15-2013 03:30 PM

Don't follow either - auction listing? competitor? something YOU want to buy?

golden_monkey 07-15-2013 06:16 PM

sorry i posted early... brain wasn't fully operational.

7 day auctions, all items end within 2 mins of each other, and yes its another seller in my same catagory.

just wondering the reasoning behind such a move.

Probably no reason to read into this. Person probably listed at the time and took two minutes to pop out the next auction.

I do not see any type of tactic involved.

Errrrrr, because in general 10:00pm EST is the busiest time on the interwebs?

cool, just seemed werid... I like to spread my stuff out all night.

as far as time...after some terapeaking I found i could start my auctions as early as 7pm EST, mixed results on this so i stick to night time.. no later then 1am EST, guess the west coast doesn't pick up the slack.

Probably just wanted to list all and be done with it - nothing unusual for some people...especially during summer...maybe wanted to be out and about on other days so just BAM! set it and forget it for auctions

JamesNorth101 07-17-2013 11:52 AM

Seems it takes him 2 minutes to complete each listing.

Also will mean he has the monopoly on that item from 10 until 10:30 if anyone clicks on ending soonest. (depending on how busy the category is of course)

this was my process of thinking..... its a busy catagory for sure but im not sure how auctions float up vs the BIN best match sellers. cause the BIN best match stuff is pretty well owned by a handful of sellers.

Under sell them buy a buck and you'll outmatch them.

And then there is the chance that he just does not know what he is doing. If the items are identical then he is probably messing up. If they are "complimentary" then he might be trying to catch buyers all at once so there is one guy getting several of his items.

My vote is it was just the most convenient way of listing them. A lot of people don't want to pay 10 cents just to "schedule" an auction, on top of the already ridiculous eBay fees.

Nice bump of a 2013 thread

Pity the OP has not been online since 2014 either.
