Strange request from ebay on "My Selling Limits". Curious the correct steps to take.

My selling limits were decreased this evening from $18,000 to $11,320 which is the amount I had listed. The items per month went down from 750 to 525 as well. I have 52 items sold and already this month and 510 listed so it shows me a red 0 for the amount more I can list this month.

The message header was " Your seller performance is Below Standard". I understand the actions of all this, but I don't know what to do with a request that appeared on the "my selling page". A note says "There are other accounts related to the one you're currently viewing." You can click a user ID to sign in to the account." and has two different usernames listed, one I know is a secondary account my family has, the second accounts username is 679156807@deleted. It doesn't give any directions as what to do or why their showing me them. It just says "Let us know if a user ID shown here isn't a related account."

My long question is coming to end with this. 1-Is this a trick from ebay trying to have me log into the accounts from my main account and walk into a trap? 2- What action should I take or what should I do? Im new to the forum and this is my first post. Ill obviously be buying the book in a few minutes, but I couldn't find any information regarding this specific ebay tactic and what the purpose of it is.

I hope I posted this in the correct area, if i did not my apologizes. Hope someone can help me out.

Thanks

eBay has linked the accounts.

Do the other accounts use the same PC, internet connection, addresses, phone numbers, bank accounts, credit card numbers, etc.?

Were the other accounts previously suspended?

GreenBean 08-06-2013 01:42 AM

At this point this is not a trap, as such.

ebay is reacting to your sellers' performance and has matched your info to others on their database.

Expand on the two accounts mentioned please.

When we have more info we can try to help out.

The first account being mentioned username is: 679156807@deleted. I have no clue what this could be. Im guessing its a generic message for an account that's been deleted and longer shows its true username anymore, not sure. The second is my wife's. It and has a 15/1500 selling limit. I have purchased 3 small buy it now items about 3 months ago from my wife's to my account on the same ip address. We don't sell anything on hers. Nor have we used it for anything specific except when she buys something for herself.

And no, Ive never had a suspended account on either. Internet is from the same household. Bank accounts and pay-pal is different on the accounts.

You did shill bidding and did it from the same IP, very bad

So u used your wife's accounts that is on same IP as yours to buy items from your account what to get a positive?

Yes. I did it twice. Just wondering what I should do with the fact the accounts are highlighted in the "my selling" page. Do I tell them there not affilated?

Dont do anything now - you are linked - further actions MIGHT cause your accounts to ALL go down.

What should you do now?...1) Make backup stealth accounts 2) Keep selling but realize that all accounts are tied 3) Keep check on other accounts 4) Read forums + get stealth guide if you dont know stealth 5) Be careful moving on...check your business operations

Thank You. Any other suggestions or takes are welcomed.

Quick question. If I've broke no ebay rules with the other two accounts there showing me do I still need to concerned with them shutting me down. Also the first account name I mentioned with "delete" in it. What is this? I don't recognize the account name at all.

The two accounts may run well in spite of linkage because they aren't perceived as a threat to eB. If one gets into trouble whether on eB or PP...then the other one would be affected. I do know people who operate linked accounts - even I operate linked eB accounts BUT I don't rely on them only for business (again: in case they go down...need unlinked backups ALWAYS)

cookieman 08-06-2013 03:25 PM

Do they show the account names to you under your selling limits? And do they ever go away so I can pretend eBay forgot about them?

gulaga 08-07-2013 04:37 AM

ebay never forgets.

There's no need to judge anyone that comes here. Everyone has things they are not proud of. No need to judge at all.

Welcome Cookieman. Just listen to the good stuff. Most is.

Here's what's up ebay has an idea you shilled but can't verify it, you can ignore it and your new limits will stick or you can contact ebay and deny the other accounts your best option. That's what I did a year ago and it washed off clean. I got a message in red letters saying we think this account is linked to another account if it's not then just ignore this message, I did and all is well in boddie land.

So T best move is to call them and say there not mine?

No no, do NOT call and have someone look at your accounts.

Best move is to slowly move on to UNLINKED NEW STEALTH accounts. Keep these old accounts going for as long as you want but you really need to move your sales to new accounts before any POSSIBLE problems.

Again - key word is POSSIBLE...nothing is 100% for sure but chances of further problems are higher

Most of this advice is correct. What I would do is just use those accounts for buying, and maybe sell a few things here and there. You want to wait to let things clear up a bit. Start making stealth accounts, and good luck! :)
