Default Buyer with suspicious member ID...

Hello all, a buyer with a suspicious member ID and no feedback or transaction history just purchased an item from me.

The ID is just a series of random numbers. No feedback, no transaction history, and has been a member since yesterday.

The product is VeRo.

Should I opt not to ship? What would be the best way to avoid not shipping?

Well, how suspicious? I've sold items that had just signed up a day or two. Are you selling a phake or totally legit? also what category?

Also you can get a negative if you try to cancel the order and the customer doesn't agree.

if your account is stealth, then just ship it and quit being paranoid.

Assuming the item is real, I would ship it to the PayPal confirmed address and insure the package as well as get signature confirmation. Taking those steps will help to protect you if the buyer turns out to be a scammer.

The one issue is, if a buyer claims the item is a phake, they can get it for free by claiming the same to PayPal and "certifying" they destroyed the product. By certifying, I mean telling PayPal that they destroyed it.

Some people just use random numbers for their ID. Had a few myself over the years

I would send it to their confirmed PP address, get signature confirmation.

If its an item that is highly ⊗⊗⊗⊗ though, bare what jeffweico has said in mind.

Go with your own feelings....

Avoid issues since your product is not quite correct.

1. Item is already paid with NO holds on the pp payment?
2. Is it an overseas shipment?

If its sells then ship it. You do not want to risk an angry buyer and get a negative . I have sold to alot of new buyers . Every sale is a gamble , the best you can do is set your buyer requirements and just run a good business.

Your always going to have to take losses so that needs to be factored into your business plan and your profits from other sales need to absorb this loss.

If a loss will sink your business than you need to change your business plan, you can't just be too paranoid over every sale

Yes although something didn't feel quite right about this buyer, I decided to ship out the item.

I don't want to fall into too much paranoia, though caution and awareness are obviously big factors in stealth.

I'll let you all know if anything happens from this. Thank you so much for advice!

It happens. Have had a few sales over the years to people with randoms user names. Like combos of 20 random numbers like you said. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Reading the forum can definitely attribute to one's paranoia.
Good luck. Please let us know the outcome.

I'm not advocating or promoting selling phakes, but I'm assuming this is a vero item when I say this: "you've decided to sell a vero item on the open market". You've already thrown caution out the window.

Now that you've sold an item, you're obligated to ship. Now you play the waiting the game and figure that 5% of your sales are going to result in refunds. It's probably more like 2%, but we'll play it safe, because you need to set funds aside in your profit/loss margin for refunds.

Once you become large scale, which I'm assuming you're not, you will have a pretty large list of professional buyers who buy this stuff to get freebies. Once you encounter these people a few times you will know how to avoid them and their usernames to block.

Until then my advice is to ship what you sell.
