| | | | | tinyurl | 08-21-2013 05:00 AM | Sickened over the new picture rules & other rants of my days All of my pictures were fine past 3-5 yrs and now with this dumb large picture rules has me so PO.
I go in to try and update a listing, you see the red writing the pictures are not up to ebay standards or whatever they are.
I make pictures larger and their damn site uploads and the window just sits there, try and try again, I try compatibility mode no, try a private browser, no can't do it, its getting to be a waste of my time anymore.
Its like how big of a picture do you need for a standard item everyone uses? If you're selling a bottle of Bayer Asprin does it need to be that big for a small bottle? its all overkill anymore. I can't believe people are that dumb when it comes to buying something like that. Its just rules, rules and more rules.
I tried to do a new listing last week and could not complete it because the pictures were not big enough, I have yet to complete it, there are pictures of it all over the web but its not good enough for ebay. They better get off of their high horse, I have the feeling someone is going to open up a better site, a good site, ebay is ready for the taking by someone out there. I would really wish the guy who started Amazon who just purchased that paper would do something like this, all sellers need to hear is Amazon is starting a new site and sellers would flock right over to it. Ebay can keep their damn Walmart, drop shippers, buycom and others like that, pure Greed!
I'm a good seller with good rep, no neg's or neutrals, been there for 12 or so years now and to put up with all this BS.
ebid is lousy, ecrater is lousy, God help you there if setting up shipping for items that are sold by ounces. I click on Google help and the damn CSC didn't have a clue, tells me to send a screen shot, I do that, next day get an email to refer to ecrater site, right! I've been there, I know I need to fill out the 50 or so blocks with 0.16 of an ounce and upwards. Google is just pushing you to pay for Adwords and clicks. They mention free search engines I've never heard of and the price for that is junk mail.
This is really pathetic anymore, I have 3 boxes of new mdse that I have not listed, somehow the desire to do it is not there, the pictures etc something there will stop me from listing something.
Oh Warren Buffet where are you? ebay is ripe for the taking |

no stock images | Oh, I thought you were allowed stock images, guess that's changed, is that for the DVD's items I wonder.
Tku for reply |
| Hercules | 08-21-2013 07:11 AM | they want the large pictures so they can be magnafied when the buyer wants to see it close. |
| yotano211 | 08-21-2013 07:25 AM | What is mdse? |
| Sandy D | 08-21-2013 07:43 AM | When you save your picture as it as best for web or something and it will work fine.
Not really a big issue other then the way you save it. |
| NotAHappyBunny | 08-21-2013 09:22 AM | regarding the stock images issue - im not sure - it is in the new rules but I am still using stock images on some accts - i think it may be mainly electronics (phones) or used items that use stock images. |
| corleone | 08-21-2013 09:36 AM | fotosizer free software |
| SaiJin | 08-21-2013 10:03 AM | Is the Photo size 500 min on the wide side required?
Or is it 500 min on EITHER side? |
Don't think a rant over a picture size is warranted in truth - just a minor headache - fix and move on OP |

| Hercules | 08-21-2013 05:12 PM | If you google the item you can find the right size and someone elses image from the past...or from some odd forum |

| jeffweico | 08-21-2013 08:41 PM | I think this new rule may also be an attempt to help stop the counterfeiters. Let's say someone wants to sell a phake Rolex. Using a stock photo of a Rolex, there would be no way to tell from the picture. But someone MIGHT be able to tell with real pictures.
Quite a change from when they WANTED you to use a stock photo if the item was already in their catalog. |
| newjerseymax | 08-21-2013 09:11 PM | Stock Photo can be used on new items people... They want large pics of used items cause people were making all kinds of claims not as described. In the long run it might help the seller.
Download paint.net and just resize pixels to whatever you want. |
| jeffweico | 08-21-2013 10:01 PM | You can also resize pictures using the PAINT program that comes with Windows. It is in the Accessories folder. |
| Dmshark25 | 08-21-2013 10:47 PM | That's what I used if u have windows hit start and paint than open find ur pick hit resize click pixels and type 500 on the longest side and save DONE |
| corleone | 08-22-2013 08:18 PM | Or the free program fotosizer, you drag all the photos you want to resize, click 500 pixels and they're all resized at once, you don't have to manually click each one and resize them.
Very helpful if you need to do 100's of photo's, you could resize them all in a few seconds. |

A thought just came to mind regarding a current listing they are beefing about with the red letters it not acceptable, I try to add more pictures click save, try to finish and reverts back to fix the image, so I just exit out and leave the listing as it was. I'll bet they want me to delete my current photo's in the active listing, add the new ones while I'm there before I can submit changes. |

I just took photos, they were large enough you could zoom and now with this BS not good enough. |
