| | | acreech41311 | 09-04-2013 07:36 AM | automatically opted in for global shipping program unknowingly I have never signed up for the global shipping program.
I so not ship internationally so imagine my suprise when one of my items that sold yesterday was paid for and when I went to print the label it had a note that said "ebay global shipping program item"
The only thing I can think is that I recently made powerseller a couple weeks ago and perhaps in doing so ebay automatically signed me up for it. At any rate I had to go in this morning and opt back out.
So if you have never signed up for the program you might want to go in and double check to see that you have not been opted in.
I had no idea it was turned on in my account there was nothing showing up anywhere in my listings to alert me to it until that item sold and was paid for. |
| corleone | 09-04-2013 09:49 AM | Is there any reason you as a seller don't want to use the GSP?
It's very expensive for international buyers as they have to pay inflated customs fees, but for a seller it's a great service.
You don't have to worry about anymore international "lost" packages. Once it reaches the shipping center in the US, then your shipping obligations are fulfilled.
I really like it to be honest, my only problem is that I've had an increased number of cancellations because buyers don't seem to want to pay the shipping fee after they've bought it. |
| golden_monkey | 09-04-2013 02:11 PM | When you do your listing you have the option to keep it in the program or take it out..............go find my thread in the shipping section about GSP hell.
I've had items run thru that center then get damaged along the way.... guess who is on the hook.. me, not the shipping center. |
| arpichelago | 09-04-2013 05:30 PM | Hm, well I just got 2 international orders, I'll let you all know how it goes. |
| golden_monkey | 09-04-2013 10:12 PM | it either goes smooth... or rocky as all hell.
until eb stops guess what the charges might be and then tacking on some huge "extra fee" customers are NOT going to stop getting freaked out about this.
but 9 times outa 10 someone says, hey whats this extra 10.00 charge? um sorry I don't know what you mean....they did that not me, and its dead right then and there.
this program is nothing but eb foot shooting, i was really excited when i 1st saw it but my god sloppy sloppy, FIX IT!!!!!!!! it can be a really good thing for US sellers.........as long as you don't stick a sharp stick in our customers (and yours eb) eyeballs :deadhorse: |
| arpichelago | 09-05-2013 03:05 AM | question: how exactly were the buyers charged this extra 10$? |

| golden_monkey | 09-05-2013 09:42 PM | If someone at eb would just read my thread........and knock that sH off, the program would be great.
reading it on the surface i said oh hell yesssssss, used it a few times, A+ then........it went to crap with hidden extra tossed on made up charges. :nono:
In what world did that fly? someone had a meeting and said great idea!?
porking customers is a great way to lose customers....they are both of our customers...........it doesn't matter who does the porking, WE BOTH LOSE THEM! :rip: |
| acreech41311 | 09-06-2013 07:20 AM | I opted out of the shipping program the minute I saw that I was in it in the first place,.
Posted a whole slew of new listings on weds night, tells me I still have 3 items in the global shipping program WTH!
I am getting so annoyed with ebay and this international shipping business, first I keep getting canadian buyers slipping through the cracks even though I have my shipping set up for no international shipping and now this.
I guess at this point I may end those auctions and relist and see if that removes them from this GSP crap.
If not then I guess I will have to call ebay but thats not something I want to do, my primary account is all legit with my real info but its always such a hassle to call them and 99% of the time they dont resolve the issue. |
| corleone | 09-06-2013 01:34 PM | I've had pretty good luck with the program and it's also opened me up to international sales off ebay.
I've had several buyers message me asking if I can lower the shipping costs. Since I can't adjust the GSP shipping fee, I'll offer to sell it to them offline through paypal for a reduced shipping rate as well as lowering the customs declaration value.
I've had sales that I may have missed on because of communications like this.
For buyers with money who don't mind paying the outrageous fees, it's fine with me.
I had considering eliminating shipping to the UK as I've had several packages stop tracking when they enter the UK and had to refund, as well as a couple to Canada. This has cleaned that up pretty well. |
| golden_monkey | 09-06-2013 09:28 PM | ^^ i have NO IDEA what the UK does to their packages but you better have that sucker packed FOR WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

oh ebay.
Sighs.

| vogeltron | 09-09-2013 01:55 AM | Re: automatically opted in for global shipping program unknowingly Had the same thing happen to me today with their Global Shipping Program. I never opted into the program the did it for me without my consent. I am checking all accounts to make sure the same thing has not happen to any others. |
Re: automatically opted in for global shipping program unknowingly Should be an option to opt out of it on the dashboard... |

| arpichelago | 09-12-2013 09:04 PM | Re: automatically opted in for global shipping program unknowingly OK, forget all the extra fee nonsense: WHY IS THE US ADDRESS UNCONFIRMED?
Is this just some random guy at a global shipping center?? And you don't know if he really exists? WTF ebay??
Almost lost 200$, I just assumed the address would be confirmed... thankfully the guy wasn't actually a scammer... |
| Sandy D | 09-12-2013 11:05 PM | Re: automatically opted in for global shipping program unknowingly Another case of ebay doing something without even knowing the glitches and flaws it has. |
| vogeltron | 09-13-2013 02:05 AM | Re: automatically opted in for global shipping program unknowingly I just fully read they new USER Agreement that has been going out. Apparently they have the right to opt you into the Global Shipping program. So be careful. You may have to opt out right after agreeing to it. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 07:04 PM. | |
