Answering emails from gmail
 

Ive been reading and havent gotten a conclusive answer if there is even one.

Can emails be answered directly through gmail by hitting the gmail reply button?

Only if you are on the correct IP and if you are on your PC then on the correct user account, and if you are replying from a cell use same IP you usually use and clear all data and cookies in your browser

Some debate about this

When you reply though gmail to an eBay message, eBay do not actually get the IP address that you are using at the time of the email being sent because the email is sent though several relays. eBay only get the IP address of the relay that was used just before they got the message.

Um, why have you quoted an AMAZON based thread for an ebay based response, James'?

Bit confusing.

Thought the choice was to never operate the way the OP asked?

Same Killed by Ebay - lot of people report turning off images and beacons and replying will NOT cause issues.

I still prefer doing all the work on the eB platform.

I agree with your last sentence.

Working off the ebay platform is the safest.

Agreed working off the ebay platform is the best...but I have 3 little ones under the age of 4 and I work a full time job as well so anything that can cut down time spent is worth just as much as money lol....

I hear you Killed - I work a lot too and do consultation, gymtime, etc....but for my accounts that are on dial-up, I make dedicated time where I log on, handle e-mails, etc...no way around that for me and it works so I play it safe.

Obviously, using the safest method is preferred (replying to emails at your stealth PC). I won't dispute that.

However, I also to use my phone in some cases to reply through my GMail account to ebay questions. I'll explain why...

From a technical standpoint, it is not possible for eBay to see the IP address of where the GMail response originated from (unless they sent a subpoena to Google to obtain it).

Back in 2008, it was possible to trace. But upgrades to GMail's security has closed the loop for 3rd parties (ebay) to see your IP address.

Doesn't this settle it then? Its been confirmed that IP addresses aren't shared...So aslong as Images are not enabled...then this should be good to go?
