Default What do you do with bidders who message you saying you need to retract/cancel bid?

This seriously pisses me off more than anything on eBay. Some buyer who bids on an item then is to lazy to cancel their bid. They message me saying they put in the wrong amount or whatever, I really don't care. If they have to message me to have me waste my time to retract their bid. I add them to my block list then add them to my master block list so they can never purchase from any account I run. I also share block lists with a few competitors so we get rid of the problem buyers.

This seriously pisses me off more than anything. The way eBay is now you can't say anything to a buyer. Especially the morons that bid on an item 2 hrs before it ends then messages me 6 times to cancel their bid. I always file NPB cases on them. So dumb.

Cancel the bid.

Never sweat over it.

Block them.

Store their name for later.

It is a loser affair vogeltron but remember that it is NOT unique to you - happens to us all. As GB stated - make sure you block the bidder - dont need his/her business anyway...complaints and such later on if ever sale went down

90% of this job is handholding and customer satisfaction.

I have a few cut-and-paste messages on my work laptop's desktop. The answer to this question is one of them.

I am seeing more of these lately. The excuse is usually I bid without looking at others and found it cheaper so cancel my bid. Cannot believe they actually tell you this.

Used to be my 5 year old bid without me knowing and now its just plain cancel my bids right now or I will leave you a negative type of thing.

I dont want their business anyway so I cancel and block.

I have had a fair number of 5 year olds bid on/win my items. Very impressed with the computer skills of very young kids these days....

I used to get angry about this as well.

Then I just thought about the positives that come with the situation:

1: Avoids a hassle buyer who would most likely cause me issues if they did win by opening cases, charge backs and whatnot.

2: Add them to my master block list and saves issues from my other accounts.

3: Getting the ultimate revenge when they try to bid on the same item from another account then send a message asking why they can no longer bid on my items.

@vogeltron...consider this a blessing.

The buyer is already telling you they are a pain in the a$$ now. Imagine how difficult they will be after the sale goes through?

Cancel their bid - block buyer - move on

I had one like that.....

Bid was made in the middle of the night.

Asked the parent wtf they were at that hour if the rug rat was using the computer?

Funny, it was all a misunderstanding.

Ebay controls how many bid retractions a buyer is "allowed" to do in a certain time frame. So if they don't want their account "tarnished".....they will ask a seller to cancel it instead. I too have had a 5-year-old bid on one of my auctions (a great many years ago).....amazing how the number seems to be 5. Maybe we should all go play some numbers?

That's why a good seller always remembers bad buyers
