Default Being given an account by a family member...

A family member is giving me an account with circa 15k feedback, all in good standing. They just no longer sell.

They want to change all the details name and address, email, p/w etc before they give it me, which is completely understandable..

What is the best way to run this account from there on.. Of course it will raise lots of flags ebay's end. Everything I sell is 100% legit.
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!

Changing the name would be difficult - even more so if it's a male name.

Did you have a specific question relating to this?

My own advice would be steer well clear but good luck if you decide to go ahead.

Ok, so what would they be able to change? Just the address?

I just wondered if anyone has done this has it worked out ok? What is the best way to go about doing this?

Also, if you don't mind me asking, why would your advice be to steer clear?

Thanks

Because the old info is still "linked" to that ebay no matter what you do. This means that should anything happen to the account, it will still have repercussions for the previous owner.

Changing NAME AND address is a big flag - cant simply do it. You still need to operate it linkfree and legitly. I would not change all that info - too dangerous

Any change of info flags the accounts.

Info is changed on your side. Old info is still there for ebay to see.

Not safe or recommended to do.

While it may seems like a very attractive offer, it really is a lot better in the long run to have created your own account

That way you know it history in detail.

IF you do decide to use the account. MAKE SURE you do not change any of the information at first without building up a cookie history. Actually in general just don't change anything. Was in same situation and made the mistake of changing password with fresh cookies. It was all bad...

I will see how it goes, i do not need the account, it will just be a nice to have.. due to the high FB.

I will ask her about not changing too much of the info for starters and work on a new user account on laptop trying to build up cookies for starters and see how it goes from there.

THanks for the input guys

A reminder especially for those supposed to be in the know, forum does not allow account purchases unless the seller is authorised.

This is to protect both buyer and seller.
