| cunigghiu | 11-02-2013 04:47 AM | Public ip for ebay hi everyone, im from italy and im new in the forum, bought the guide and still have few doubts
My big problem is Ip, my internet provider gives static ones and for now i dont want to change it for a new company (takes time and maybe speed is not the same apart from ebay etc..), my iphone is 4s with ios 6 and cant be jailbreak for thetering (true?)
i thought about USB key with prepaid phone sim to use only for this purpose
It will be opened at my real name, does it affect in any way Ebay account?
and if i use it with multiple accounts (changing ip of course) is it ok?
Then other doubt: once paypal is verified through a VCC then i will attached my real bank name account to withdrawl more money in 1 time is it ok?
thanks!! |
| vogeltron | 11-02-2013 05:04 AM | Re: Public ip for ebay I can't speak for everyone. Especially people outside the US. But I have had success running stealth accounts from Public Wifi. I make sure I always log in from the same windows user on my laptop so the cookies, etc eBay recognizes. Hard to say but personally I believe if you get the account established and you keep it consistent. Public IP is ok. Many member on here will disagree. My opinion. |

My opinion. | I see your viewpoint vogeltron and, while it's good that it works for you, the issue is that there is always a chance of IP linking.
Say, you are using public wifi on an account...cookies in place...happily going along day to day....meanwhile on the SAME WIFI IP, five other people have made accounts and are doing weird business, fraud, risky sales, etc....eB terminates few accounts...and then sees your account on the same IP ...well down you go - always the risk. That's the risk that isn't recommendable. |

It should IMO be avoided when possible. Many other options available (dial up, tethering, dongles ect) |
| ilcarletto | 11-02-2013 02:01 PM | Re: Public ip for ebay Coniglio,
u can use the USB key connection I can't see any problem wiith that. Check your IP before going online and you shaould be fine.
I am using DSL from my house... registered to my name (like most people I guess is doing).
Btw, got my first 3 items on Ebay just today. Music CDs I am not listening anymore. Start slowly with common and NO risky items.
Ciao. |
| Sandy D | 11-02-2013 02:27 PM | Re: Public ip for ebay You do not know how many have posted about losing their accounts for us to only find out they used a public IP later.
If anyone used it and was banned like at McDonalds you will be linked to that account in time and get canned.
You might get away with it for a while or get lucky that no one has used it before but numbers will catch up over time. |

Stepping out of the house or getting out of the bed is risky. I agree prepare as best as possible. Depending on the type of account your are running and what you are trying to do with it. While many won't agree with it. I do believe these type of accounts using the IP are feasible. Depending on volume of sales, etc. It really is subjective. |
| james13v | 12-16-2013 04:36 PM | Re: Public ip for ebay I'm still not seeing the issue with it. What about just using it occasionally? |

If anyone else has logged onto the public WiFi to check their eBay account, and have for example had their PP account restricted then it could appear to eBay that you and said person are the same person (due to the fact that you have the same IP)
Ergo avoid public IP's all the time. |
| KDavis | 12-16-2013 05:22 PM | Re: Public ip for ebay But couldn't you call ebay and explain you use public wifi and you don't have internet or something sill like that? |

Re: Public ip for ebay Other options are available, look into them if you want to keep your account up & running smoothly.
As many said, it is risky to use public ips. |

Re: Public ip for ebay If you have iOs 6.1.1 or under you should be able to jailbreak. |
| KDavis | 12-16-2013 11:09 PM | Re: Public ip for ebay I use VPS. So much easier! |

| JamesNorth101 | 12-17-2013 02:56 PM | Re: Public ip for ebay VPS is very good for stealth generally, its totally different to a VPN and a proxie though which are not good.
Using a VPS though you do not need a new IP each time |
| james13v | 12-20-2013 12:31 PM | Re: Public ip for ebay I mean, you have hundreds of people using the free public wifi. I can't imagine ebay messing with you, SOLEY based on using a public wifi that just so happens to have someone else who had gotten suspended at a time. They can easily tell if you have any association with that person at all. |

They can easily tell if you have any association with that person at all. | From what I have understood over the years. Lots of people already have accounts linked to suspended accounts. It seems like eBay like to have an ace in the hole for when somebody's account looks like a liability to them and they feel like purging the site of sellers they don't want.
Had a few people I know get linked to old roommates accounts and other such things. Years after the roommate had left and after the other persons account was suspended. The link just happened to occur after they had a few Not as Described cases opened against them.
I have said before I have never had a problem with public wifi. Knock on wood. However, depending on how important the account would help me determine weather it is worth it or not. The hard 200 transaction limit that seems to be enforced now for US accounts has changed my viewpoint on some of these options. Due to the monetary aspect of using other services as suggested above. |
| shaddypro1 | 12-21-2013 08:39 AM | Re: Public ip for ebay Just get a VPS, or a private proxy. If you dont want a VPS because of monhtly fee just buy a private proxy, its only $2 a month dedicated just to yourself. Better to be safe than sorry |
