I need a UK based bank account

Is it possible to have a UK based bank account as a non-UK resident?
A marketplace (play.com) requires UK based bank account to sell, but I live in the Netherlands.

I've checked 3 banks that offer this (barclays, snbc or something and another one), but they require a 5 - 50K GBP deposit ( $8,000 - $80,000). I need it to receive money, not to put money on it :p.

Are there like, virtual banks or something (like the 3v vouchers/cards)?
