Need help setting up a US account from UK
 

Hi guys. Thanks to the forum a year or so ago I was able to get back on ebay.co.uk

I have built up a good business in the past year despite ebay's best efforts but thats another story

The basis of my business is taking creating and selling physical products here in the UK. I have found a company in the USA who can make and ship the same products form me over there. I have listed some items on ebay.com but the views/watchers I am getting are very minimal compared to the uk and numerous searches for my product on ebay.com don't show my listings.

I believe this is because I'm listing them as a UK seller and ebay automatically assumes I will be shipping them from the UK to the US which will not be the case

How hard will it be for me to set up a ebay.com account in the US as a stealth US citizen as I think this is the only way this business is going to become successful over there. I need buyers on ebay.com to see me a US seller, not a UK selller who ships to the US

Much easier for you to set up your account ont the UK WEBSITE - then just make auction listings on US site.

You can change your origin point on the listing...but make sure not to mislead buyers. You will see the option to change origin of listing on the auction page...sorry can't provide photo but it's there if you explore

So, is this a workaround solution to the international selling limit of 10 items...? ...seems too easy for me. Am I missing something?

No this is NOT a workaround to ANY limits...it's just a way to sell on eb.com when you're original account is on another eb site...example : eb.co.uk, eb.ca, eb.jp...whatever limits you have on the original site may NOT go on to eb.com.

In fact, eb.com has often imposted limits of 10 regardless of past history...

The only workaround is either get super lucky and get an account that starts out with higher limits than 10/month OR Verify the Ebay account which you WON'T be able too.

This was nothing to do with getting around selling limits

I just want to appear on ebay.com as an American seller not an international one who ships to the USA

We are having the products that we are selling, made in & shipped from the USA for us so technically we are not an international seller shipping across to the USA from the UK

Go on the Auction Listing form and look for "Seller Location" option.

How about setting up an ebay buying only account in order to buy items on US ebay from sellers who refuse to ship overseas? Of course you'd need to source a shipping forwarding company to take care of the forwarding/import side.

Would buying a US account from someone on here be enough or would the UK IP ever be a problem for ebay (would they care?).

OK, so I set the location of the item as the US but still having no joy. When I visit ebay.com and search for my items, they aren't showing up.

I'm not sure if this is because Im searching from the UK and because the listings state we don't ship to the UK, they are not showing up but we are getting very few views in a week (less than 10) which is not what I'd expect as I know the market we are in very well here in the UK.

Anybody have any further idea's other than flying to the US and visiting ebay.com to check my listings are showing up?
