Free Postage
 

Offering free postage means you automatically get a 5 star DSR rating for shipping cost. YAY!

However, is this really a good idea? If you charge $4/item for shipping, then you are losing out on $4 extra for every single item you sell.

Do people pay more on average for items with "free" shipping, that it would make this worth it?

I mean yeah an automatic 5 star DSR is good but not if it effects your bottom line too much.

Your thoughts appreciated.

I just add postage costs to cost of listing. Not seen any drop in sales.

Usually you add the postage into the cost of your item. I am about 50/50 on if I offer free shipping or not. I am much more likely to have free shipping on BINs than auctions. Just kinda my preference not sure if it makes a difference in total price.

I think it's worth it and do all free priority shipping I just choose my products carefully and make sure the profits are big enough to absorb shipping and fraud and any loss, but one less category to worry about DSRs so worth it considering 3 strikes ur out

Agree w/ above posters...all my listings are free postage.

In an auction, I find that people tend to bid more when they know they only have to pay for the actual price they won the item at and not additional postage fees.

In a BIN, you just add the cost of postage into the final cost of the item.

The benefit of having that DSR category grayed out far outweighs the fraction of profit you may (or may not) lose for postage.

Really depends on the item you are selling - if it eats in the profits and you end up losing...not a great business model.
