virgin mobile

just a little fyi. don't know if anyone ever brought this up or not. but I been usen Verizon wifi for sometime and been getting lots or repeating ips so I got the virgin mobile dongle. whew amazing ip range on it. all the numbers change on it everytime I restart it BUT its the slowest internet ever and its not because of my location.

Im not using it anymore its so slow. took me an hour to list 3 items. so for everyone out there avoid this device unless you got Plenty time.

Wrong. I have run multiple boxes on EVDO 2-5 bars signal and it's fine. You sound like you were running on 1xRTT. Next time you should check.

Don't spread nonsense.

Re: virgin mobile

most of the time it really depends on the location are you in, maybe inside a house or building vs outside.

Re: virgin mobile

unknown5454 for me its been horrible and I have full strength signal 3g. Slow as hell. Not spreading nonsense just saying what I experienced with it at full strength. But who knows maybe its my locale. Even tho it is showing I have full connection.
I will check into it further tho. Maybe try it in some different areas and see what happens.

Location is everything.

Re: virgin mobile

Congested city would cause problems. Otherwise, it should be fine if the signal is strong and you are certain to be on EVDO.

Re: virgin mobile

hmmm just tried it again and seems to be working a lot better. maybe daytime so many people on it making it slow perhaps. right now in the middle of the night it seems to be running strong.
so I checked the map and my area was purple meaning I should be able to receive 4g BUT for some reason its not picking up 4g at all.

I got the 20 dollar exclusive walmart plan for now just to test it out. Does anyone know if 4g works with this plan?

I ll call customer care in the morning but their usually no help.

yes location really is everything! 'unknown' your most likely right.

The customer service is horrid. Like Comcast, they will literally tell you to just power cycle to fix all problems. I had an issue about 3 years ago with my first box and it was nothing too difficult, just very strange. I spent a long time (2 days total) just getting past the tier 1 monkeys talking to me like a child.

Nice - I often find time of day is important on the connection issue as well

ok I have the u600 dongle. I cant imagine theres much of a difference in speed or connectivity between the dongle or the overdrive pro, or is there???

From 5am till 8am is a good time LOL. For real I have to do this for the next 2 days until my data limit renews. Slow data times are around lunch time and happy hours.

Can you buy an overdrive second hand, or does it have to be brand new?
