Anybody else having USPS not scanning issues?
 

Starting last week I noticed USPS was slacking off on scanning 1st class pkgs. I believe the customer will ultimately receive but all the emails from customers is driving me nuts. Not to mention the threats. Yeah "open a case" threats. Of course when I went to USPS today they deny it. Right now I have 4 orders that 2 days later that have never been scanned. Last week I had several that did not scan until delivered.

Out of Tacoma, far too many parcels not being scanned.

Worst time for several years.

Thing was they were the last deliveries before closing for the holidays.

Really rough if pp hold is for 21 days. I have 4 right now in transit & not scanned.

That's how usps has always been then they tell customers you haven't shipped the goods yet.

Normal procedure.

Its been like that for at least the last 6 months with me out of Denver. They were never efficient, but as they contract they are getting worse. Of course the post office will deny it, and your customers will believe them over you. It amazing how its human nature to believe government (USPS is part of government),tracking not being entered, when we are constantly bombarded with evidence to the contrary.
My strategy is to ship quickly, so 90% of the packages will arrive before they can file a dispute, and be honest when they complain about the tracking not being any good.
Usually it will arrive before they get around to filing a dispute.
The ones that don't I consider shrinkage (theft), which is still much lower than a brick and mortar store. The difference is that you are aware of every item that gets stolen online. In a physical store it only shows up when you do inventory.
With expensive items I always use UPS. They are accountable for their actions.

This happened to me very often. I was doing 150-200 packages a day, all first class. People just open dispute of non receipt. And I can't prove it because the tracking number doesn't update at all. I lose a lot of money from USPS' fault. I know Priority is a lot better than first class, but my products are too cheap to have Priority.

Seems like packages for me are taking longer to arrive to certain locations than previous years. Even for this time of the year.

I always enjoy the sales during holiday part of the year. But sometimes with all the headaches that come with it. It can be stressful at times.

Yes, have had this problem for years. The only way to insure that it gets scanned is go to the counter and ask them for a receipt.

At my USPS they will scan when I hand it to the agent.

You have to also realize its the holiday, so they most likely are overwhelmed with packages, meaning some packages will be forgotten of. Not saying that they should but when I went to drop off my packages at my Local Post Office, they couldnt even find a spot to put my shipping merchandise, there was tons and tons of boxes in the carts. Feel bad for those people, its like complete chaos in there

I know USPS is overwhelmed. So am I with stupid emails from customers saying they know I have not shipped & they are going to open a claim, etc., etc..

I have confidence they will get to their destinations on time, but try telling that to customers who want instant gratification.

if you guys signed up for stamps.com or endicia you can create a scan form which basically takes all the items you shipped into one barcode its a shipment scan all items are automatically scan, you just drop this off at your local post office along with the scan form and you get instant scans

The BEST Thing to do is to Use Ebay Batch Shipping, Just Process your entire batch ALL at once,,,and have it Print a "Scan" Form, Pay Attention and Make Sure the you Check the Box for the Scan Form, it is on the Page where you Pay for the Labels, now when you go to the Post Office Just hand them the Scan form and as soon as they scan it ALL of your packages will show up as Scanned in

I have this happened with my suspended account many times.
Regardless of holiday season, and just got worse. There is a guy
Sending from the same po i do, and he personally scan each of
the many packages he sends AT the post office using that gun scanner or whatever
They call it. Time consuming, but this way you can at least prove to the customer actually sent his package and not just printed the label.

Happens a lot.

When I get pickups at my home and got the vacation replacement I had scanning issues every single day.

He was so lazy he would not scan half of the boxes.

The regular postman had 5 weeks vacation so I ended up with this lazy butt who also tossed the boxes into the back of his jeep like they had an otterbox on them.

I ended up getting the vacation schedule of my regular drive so I could take them to the PO when he was gone.

The last few weeks I had a bunch that said delivered but the buyer never got them.. after a call to the usps, all of them eventually found.
