how to change ip on static IPS
 
Hi,

im on BE braodband (uk)..its got a static IP..anyway to get a new ip (ie buying a new modem,router,wifi dongle etc)...??

Also could try for dynamic DSL line for your home on top of James' ideas.

Are you certain your IP is static?

I just went to BE's website and it says all of their products are offer both dynamic or static. Why not contact BE and try switching to dynamic IP?

Hi folks,


ah...well i'll be damned..i didn't know this (re requesting a dynamic ip)....y,BE offers static IPs by default (at least thats what my package was)...

so,using usb dongle (even with a static ip) will set a new ip..?

If not(thanks James for the pointer)i'll phone them up a request a dynamic IP i guess..

Dongles rarely have static IP addresses, and if they do it tends to be because its been requested.

Lots of recommendations for dongle providers in the UK on the forum. Have a quick search and see what suits your needs best.
