Would ebay frown on this buyers threat of feedback?

Back story, the item in question I have sold numerous times and people love them. This guy gets one and opens a case and says its not functioning and he is "distraught" over the situation. I apologize and tell him I will give him a full refund upon return of the item.

Today I get message from the buyer through ebay :
I know you feel you need the item back before you issue the refund but would you please reconsider? i dont mean to be difficult but my feedback that will be posted on facebook and ebay will reflect what your choice is next. sir i am not the one selling faulty products. please refund me today and you have my word this item will be back in ups system tomorrow morn. please consider?

If the customer is sending this email you can use it against them if they leave a neg....basically the customer wants a refund and keep the item.

yes. it also sounds like a negative is in the cards from this buyer already.

My concern is the account. 36 feedback, just started selling on it in January. Sweet limits of 400/ $11000. I have one negative from a buyer where I didnt pay his return shipping.

What would a 2nd negative do to this account.

Have both feedback removed by ebay. Very easy if you call ebay. Will take less than 2 minutes with an agent. One is feedback extortion, the other is based on policy of ebay. Both will be removed if you are proactive about it.

Even if Hell was on earth, this is not the way to do it. DON'T REFUND UNTIL HE SENDS THE ITEM BACK.

Some of these buyers on eBay think money grow on trees.

no worries. i won't the guy is up to something. I am willing to bet there is nothing wrong with item. Since he's already said I'm getting a neg, my willingness to help is gone.

If you call about a buyer breaking eBay policies, they will not dig into account info. After all, your account is in good standing. Take the extra mile and get out clean, protect your stealth account.

Close to zero. They will ask for4 your name and account user ID when you call and then ask how they can help you.

Loose the account for comming below standard for buyer abuse or impress ebay with a call and being proactive and keep your 100% feedback.

I don't see any risk at all by calling but the risk of not can/may be highly costly.

I normally don't advise to call into eBay for feedback, but I tend to agree w/ what GotoEbay and yankee have stated above.

You run a greater risk by not doing anything and allowing the account to slip below standards upon next review.

This should be an easy fix by the agent if they just see the messages by this buyer. Best of luck w/ this and keep us posted.

A simple message: "I understand you are upset about the condition of the item.
But please also understand that what you are doing is fraud as well as extortion which is reportable to and enforced by ebay. Please return the item and upon receipt, I will issue a prompt refund. Please also understand that shipping must be paid at your expense. In order to protect both of our interests, I will keep (a printout as well) a copy of our emails for ebay trust and safety department to avoid any other issues. My customer service to your issue is my utmost priority, but I must return the faulty item to my manufacture/supplier so I will not be out of either my money or said item."

i called ebay. they removed the negative fb posted. it took a while waiting on hold., but it was easy.

as far as the feedback extortion mentioned in this thread, they said its definitely a no no what he wrote. He hasnt given FB yet, but when he does, they said to call back if its negative and they will remove it.

back at 100%

If he is using "Sir" he is a foreign scammer 110%. Barely speaks proper English. This is how they speak. I had seen it a million times. Make sure to report him.

Re: Would ebay frown on this buyers threat of feedback?

This is extortion plain and simple. The buyer is acting as if he has a loaded pistol to your head. Stick to your position and do not refund until he has returned the item. If he does leave negative feedback call ebay immediately. Also forward them the email. This is despicable.

What are your buyers' requirements, as a matter of concern?

Who or what are you blocking from purchases?

If no blocks in place, get them on your account NOW

To a degree, your account is flagged even though one negative is removed.
There has been activity that is not quite what ebay 'likes'.

ebay are petty enough to look at this at a later date & be less than nice.

Take control of your account & block future harm doers.

Good Luck

Return the money quick. Trust me over the years I know from experience. When ebay sees you returned the money before the tracking for a returned item shows up they will leave your acct alone even if it's vero most of the time.
If you are selling a ceramic figure or something then insist on a returned box first.
