What Happened To Yahoo and Googles Auction Site
 

I know that yahoo stopped, im not sure why.

And Google I read was starting one up but that was in 2006.

what happened.

plain and simple: nothing.

google made google base instead and is trying to promote google checkout as a payment system with it.

Yahoo is all but dead for the most part, and Google I'm not sure.

I think if CraigsList.Org wanted to really compete with eBay they could, but I don't think they're going to scale up anytime soon.

Taobao (however its in simplified chinese charaters) they gonna be a big one in the next few years, they have an agreement with Paymate Sell to China

I know a few people who sell on Taobao and they prefer it than eBay, and even Alipay (chinese paypal equivalent) is worked on a escrow system.
