Ebay wants to confirm my identity: what do I do?

I opened a stealth ebay account about a week ago. A few days ago I listed three books for $38, $15 and $5. Yesterday ebay suspended all my listings, saying I needed to call in to verify my identity.

Is it normal for ebay to want to confirm the identify for all new accounts, or did I do something to trigger this? The paypal account is not verified, could that have triggered this? Or did I list too much too soon?

And if it's normal for them to confirm the identify of all new sellers, how do they/I confirm my identity? I don't know what to say since everything is made up. My stealth name, address and phone number is not going to appear in any public records.

What do people do when ebay needs to confirm your identity?

Yea, not having a verified PayPal acct will definitely do this.

Forum have many mnay threads about MC999. ebay is dishing them out to many new accounts.

Most of what you said you did caused this.

You listed too much too soon.

Books are not the best to list as a first off type of item.

You are trying to use ebay without the benefit of a protected payment source ( a verified paypal).

This is basic stealth to have done correctly.

I feel you just rushed into doing this.

Explain what you did. Did you surf, establish cookies on this account? Buy anything for feedback?

Should also verify PP before getting into sales - helps quite a bit

Were those 3 books listed in one day? I think you started selling too aggressively.

Patience is crucial when running stealth accounts.

ok so when setting up stealth accounts, I should get my paypal verified, and then wait a few weeks? then I can list..1-2 items?

I thought books were safe items...if they're not what is?

I've followed the stealth guide as best as I can. I have a separate user account on my computer for each stealth identity, I connect online through a tether connection and I double check my IP every time I log in, the paypal was opened with a vanila visa giftcard, I haven't bought anything for feedback.

So as long as I list much slower with a verified paypal, like 1 item a week after a few weeks then ebay won't try to confirm my identify?

Hi

I have just listed 10 Items on ebay without any problems either I also have no verified paypal yet.

The only difference is my Items were £1.00 each.

So it seems selling low priced products might help to start with.

I hope this Info helps someone.

@yog2uk

As a first listing 10 is rather a lot.

If possible consider going a little slower, even with your low price items.

Good Luck
