refunds = defect

Some uk users have reported that nornal refunds due to change of mind have counted as a defect.

Has anyone here noticed this?

it could be a glitch as its not showing on my defect rate.

If indeed it isnt a glitch, one work around is to partially refund (the whole amount minus 1penny) then it won't count as a defect.

I hope this helps anyone whose noticed this!!

Re: refunds = defect

It should not be counting as a refund if it is due to the buyer having a change of mind.

Only counts as a defect if it is the seller at fault.

I have not seen these count as defects on my end

Yep i have had this twice now, are these defects going to be carried forward to the august date. or do we start from clean in august at 0 defects?

Re: refunds = defect

Depends on your sales.

If your over 400 transactions its the past 3 months, if its under 400 transactions its the last 12 months.

Re: refunds = defect

This is what it says on the seller dashboard for a defect on cancelled transactions.
This refers to any transaction that you've canceled—either on eBay or PayPal—because you don't have the item anymore or you chose not to ship the item after it was sold.

So if item is for collection and it shows its not been shipped then its a defect?

Re: refunds = defect

I was going to start another thread on this, I am not totally clear on it because of all the conflicting information on the Web.

1. Buyer has a change of mind and wants to return. It is not INAD.
2. On receipt I refund through Paypal, then send a Cancellation request selecting customer Changed their mind.

This is therefore not a defect. I have done this a number of times in the last 12 months and it has never been a defect.

Although I have read in some places that refunding through Paypal now can result in a defect? But I can't see an option to refund in EBay?

It is the sequence some are stating is most important.

Can anyone clarify please?

How nice, eBay trying to be more like Amazon once again.

Re: refunds = defect

1. "View PayPal transaction"
2. Refund
3. Wait a minute, then refresh page.
4. "Resolve a problem".
5. Choose "buyer purchased in error or changed mind".

I've not been hit with a defect when doing it like this.
