| | | The Hitman | 05-08-2014 01:45 PM | Too many open unpaid buyer cases! Hello everyone im new to this, hope someone can help me out here.
is it possible to get your eBay account restricted or limited if I open too many unpaid buyer cases in a short period of time ? |
| Bunneh | 05-08-2014 01:47 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! if you are a buyer then yes they will restrict your buying for a week first and then 30 days etc.. |
| Dmshark25 | 05-08-2014 01:48 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! Yes, be-careful especially on a new account
In the past I think that is what flagged one of my accounts I can't be certain , but whenever a case is open it doesn't look to good
And again on newer accounts under 6 months old I would not open too many |
| The Hitman | 05-08-2014 01:49 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! oh no no, I mean im opening these cases as a seller. Im getting quite a few buyers lately that are just not paying for my items, even days after the auctions end. |
| Bunneh | 05-08-2014 01:51 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! Perhaps set up your selling preferences to be more strict.
I don't allow for more than 2 strikes in a month. |
| The Hitman | 05-08-2014 01:53 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! Ok I opened 2 unpaid buyer cases against 2 different sellers during the last 2 weeks, so if this problem comes up again, I shouldn't open another case ? |
| Bunneh | 05-08-2014 02:02 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! yes you should always open cases for non payment, that is what it is there for.
The buyer is the one who will get the restrictions . |
| The Hitman | 05-08-2014 02:07 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! oh good good, so as a seller I can open as many unpaid buyer cases against the buyer and my account wont have any issues right ? |
| keepongoing | 05-08-2014 02:08 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! actually....... be aware of this unpaid items are often used by Sellers who are schill bidders.
meaning people win their own auctions to bump prices then open unpaid item cases when they win their own auctions to get fees back.
this will eventually launch a ebay investigation.... dont ask me how I know |

| glacier922 | 05-08-2014 02:16 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! You guys should do unpaid item assistant. It's the best thing in the world. It opens up unpaid item case in two days (if u set it up for 2 days, that's the minimum), and then it automatically closes in 4 days if buyer doesn't pay. eBay would normally send polite messages to buyers to pay, so you don't have to do it. It gets rid of the stress and having to remember to get your final value fee back.
On one of my accounts I have 26 unpaid items closed without me ever having to look at anything. Highly recommended. |
| keepongoing | 05-08-2014 02:20 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! I would be very careful with this. people manipulate the system and make thousands from bumping auctions, often times they just relist and get the fees back. this makes ebay mad cause you are taking back fees they just had and they want to know WHY?
I had issues with the unpaid assistant in the past and never recommend or use it.
just be careful enough cases will get you investigated and possibly banned. |
| The Hitman | 05-08-2014 02:23 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! interesting, how about having too many open cancel transaction cases ?
regardless whether it is the buyer or the seller opening the case, i think this might get your account limited. Anyone know ? |

anything that takes fees out of ebays pockets are going to be reviewed.
sure some have gotten away with alot but its just a matter of time..
if something doesnt add up or make sense, ebay could review it. |
| bjammin | 05-08-2014 04:25 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! I can see Keepongoing's point, but if I am not getting paid, then I am getting my seller fees back. |

| Bunneh | 05-08-2014 04:29 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! Dont know WHERE or WHY shill bidding came to it.
This post is about him claiming his fees back for non paying bidders. |
| glacier922 | 05-08-2014 04:29 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! Am I reading this correctly? Unpaid item cases would affect the seller? Wtf? |

However opening to many cancellation requests might.
You have no control over who pays and who does not, so why would that have a negative impact on you as a seller? |
| bjammin | 05-08-2014 04:35 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! I have never had it affect me. I think KeepOnGoing is just saying that too many "unpaid item cases" or "cancel transaction requests" will cause EB to raise a brow in suspicion of shrill bidding. And in essence, if someone was shrill bidding, this is the method they would use to not pay for the item.
Not saying that I would ever shill bid, :shhh: but I would at least carry through the transaction to not look suspicious. |
| The Hitman | 05-08-2014 04:42 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! Yeah im not schill bidding or manipulating my auction in anyway at all, just an honest seller here that happen to run into few buyers who would not pay for my items after they had won the auction leading me to open several unpaid buyer cases against those buyers in the last few weeks.
My only concern was would eBay limit or restrict my account because of it, that's all. |

Highly recommended. | I had a buyer who hadn't paid get very heated that I opened up a case on them after a few days. I told them it's done by eBay and it's highlighted the terms of my auction. I told them that there's no reason to be offended I just don't want to pay fees on items that are never paid for. The buyer said "I'm not offended - I'm pissed" in all capitals. I can't believe some buyers, I just wanted to tell them to fck off. Needless to say they're blocked from buying from me. |
| glacier922 | 05-08-2014 07:12 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! The beauty of having the unpaid item case open for you is that the buyer cannot leave negative feedback while the unpaid item is open. They can still leave a negative feedback if the customer paid. But once it's closed customer cannot leave negative feedback. So just ignore the non paying customer and move on. |

It just closes the case, I ship the item and leave buyer positive feedback (as if u had a choice) and then just let it be. Bad things could happen though. |

Better to set limits from the start & keep control. |
| bjammin | 05-08-2014 11:15 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! I do set my preferences, and I wish I could make them stricter. I sure most people on the forum realize most unpaid item cases are usually against a new buyer with (0) feedback, and even some below (10) feedback. If it was up to me, I would want at least 10 and no unpaid item cases within the last 6 months. I think the range that EB allows us to set as a preference is BS and doesnt help very much. |
| Hercules | 05-08-2014 11:30 PM | Re: Too many open unpaid buyer cases! I get unpaid buyers one on ten auctions...I use ebay assistant. It's better for some reason. They pay after a while, but a few don't.
The new one I'm getting is echecks that take more time. Then PP emails me that the echeck failed. The ebay assistant won't turn on automatically with echeck failures!
I wonder how these jerks fail a bank transfer without a bank charging them for reversing the payment. I guess the the bank acct is bone empty? |

Can you set up preferences 'cos that helps with hassles.
Good Luck |

And be ready to sell some low-dollar junk that you can take a hit on. Once the account is strong then you can be tougher on things. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 09:40 AM. | |
