“Red Flag” vs. “Safe” items
I've been browsing these forums for a while, and am in the process of working on a stealth account. When I finally decide to sell a few items initially, what kinds of items should I avoid listing?
I assume cell phones and Nike shoes are a no-go? |

Any branded items such as those are high risk. |

Anything with a brand should be avoided.
Stick to generic house hold items to get an account going.
Used books are good as well |
Lots of posts about this OP but yes, no cellphones, no Nike.
All comes down to the $ vs. risk |

No electronics...stuff that you would find at an antique store or yard sale....something that will sell for less than $20 and start it at between $5-$9.99. |

A couple of other suggestions that I use are household and used products but also business or kids items (pens, packs of index cards, etc.) I also try and keep all my initial items above .99 cents to avoid making it look like I am trying to get quick easy feedback, which ebay seems to frown on. |

How about CDs? I have a ton to get rid of and would be happy getting just a few bucks for them. Kill two birds with one stone so to speak.
I would think I can sell stuff like AC/DC, Jethro Tull, and Rush CDs quickly without raising any flags.
Thoughts? |

Nope, even CDs get zapped.
You have to be careful of the company that produced the music on the CDs....

| DVD's, Blue Ray, and even Video Games from 1990 (Nintendo) have been in the high risk category for new accounts.
I would probably find something for the first few sales then go down the CD route.
The more unique and oddball the better. |

I hit a community yard sale Saturday and bought enough used items to list on tons of accounts.
I have several totes full of items ready to be the first things listed on a new account.
Nothing risky, electronics, name brand, cell phone, high priced etc etc. |

Look around your house, and find the things that you no longer want/need. You should surely have 10 items around that are of no use/value to you anymore. I would do this for the first 3 months of selling on a new account. |

| Its been a while since I did this. But 2010-11. When I got out of College, I did start multiple accounts selling older edition textbooks. Just make sure you stay away from the high priced ones until you get a few seller feedback, and definitely no international versions. |
