Anyone noticed DROP in sales (past week)?

I just noticed drop in sales for the past week. In my case I noticed 50% drop in sales. I make almost half of what I used to make before. I noticed this issue starting from Monday May 12.

What could this situation attributed to ?

I think a lot of people are planning for vacations, graduations etc. Lots going on this time of year, people are spending their money on stuff like that or planning to, or are just too busy to ebay. I've had several buyers over the last couple weeks send me messages asking me to wait a couple days to ship because they were going on vacation, traveling for this and that etc.

Not my, my have been red hot. A mini Christmas for me. It really depends on what types of items you sell. If you have summer type items, people will be buying more of those around this time of the year.

HUGE drop in sales and views ... Don't listen to people who claim to have "mini Christmas". They are not being forthcoming with you. They omit the fact that their traffic comes from outside of eBay. One of the major reasons as to why eBay sales has been slow and erratic as of late is due to constant Google updates such as recent Panada 4.0 update which resulted in very little organic traffic from Google to eBay. Generally speaking, decline in sales and views has been going on for at least 2 years now. It's terrible, absolutely terrible.

PS. Don't listen to people who claim it's due to holidays, bad economy etc ... These are either newbies or low volume sellers.

Maybe the folks up north, don't watch CNN or any other news program to know the US economy has been in the dumps? I'm not saying that's caused everybodys sales too be down...but I guranatee it's effected US ebay sales some, just like everything else.

I dont know why you say this but it really depends on what types of items you sell. Right I am selling lots of items that are geared toward graduation, like custom made items. I am getting lots of orders from California. Around this time lots of students are finishing school in CA, next month comes NV and the rest of the states.

So like I said, it depends on the seasons and items you sell.

@ scotch554717! You are wright! My sale dropped somewhat as well. Well, I guess Mother's day just past by, and now people are busy with graduations and other occasions. Hopefully sales pick up by summer..wish you all the best guys. wish me luck too...

My items are somewhat seasonal. My best guess is like others said, summer, upcoming vacations, probably reflect in loss in sales.
But I would also consider google panda effect.

Re: Anyone noticed DROP in sales (past week)?

I have actually had a small jump in sales. But they it is all my garbage items that I am clearing out and make basically nothing on. At this point I am just happy some money coming in. April always seems to be the slowest month for me. May is usually pretty rough as well.

What I do find odd is that my competition when I first started selling back in 200-06 was huge. Now with my "core items" there are only a few select sellers left. I would think business would be booming. But it has been stagnant since 2010.

I agree with some of the posts above. I think lots of people are flat out broke and cheerleader talking heads on TV won't admit it. Also, even though it does not affect my business as much I do believe Amazon and other venues have eaten away lots of eBay's sales. Not to mention John Donahue ruining the small seller atmosphere that use to exist on eBay.
