Not just one employee but a number of them.

Does any one think cut backs went a little too far for that company.

Ebay staff passwords dog1234, cat1234, hipo1234.

I think EB will need to totally revamp its website - and revamp itself!

Facebook has come out with Shopify, where you can sell stuff. Right now, I see it being a place for shops like Nasty Gal. Nasty Gal took off on EB (before EB pissed her off and she went and created her own website, having gathered a sizeable following) but FB's Shopify platform looks better. It's only a matter of time before they have an "auction" function, where ppl like you and me can sell stuff.

Interestingly, when I perused own of these Shopify 'shops', they have PP as payment processor. Seriously, EB and PP need to split.

For us, this means more options and places to sell our stuff.

with all you know about stealth.....

actually everything that makes creating sth accounts a PITA will make this almost not an issue.

so they have everyones passowrd

wooooo big deal.

so they go to login to you account, hmm new IP?, no cookies, different browser? i mean this is going to set off so many red flags.

next step, they are going to ask all those secret questions....end of the road sucker... :rip:


just from looking at this on the surface level...this seems like the stupidest hack, that is going to result in almost worthless data.

wait till mr.dum dum tries to go use this data on a large scale, they'll be logging IP addresses left and right

Agree 100% with you on that. Not worried about the Hackers, more worried with the Scammers trying to use this to there advantage. Call me paranoid but I already pulled my High End items time to take a little Mini Vaction

True reason why I panicked at first was due to a few Gmail account emails being compromised 4 months ago.

They got access to the ebay account (Thankfully, not the paypal) And thankfully, it was a starter account. Only around 4 feedback or so.
I had to change every account that was working as well as the accounts I had 'dormant' ,,,tis a pain that makes me cry in the corner to think about.

But its a major pain to have to call ebay about every account that has been logged in in another country randomly.

it was all over the news yesterday, I am surprised it has not been big news on this forum......

Man I don't really feel like changing about a dozen passwords, then I have to change like 2 files and another large file with info sheet on it. Blah.... I guess I'll get to it.

All they can do is buy with an ebay acct with no paypal with just a credit card. I don't know the procedure but ebay may ask for the 3 digits on back. Even so almost all ebay's accts have paypals so they have to get the paypal email and password to do financial loss.
All of that is half hidden inside ebay half typed in...
It may be a marketing trick to get every buyer to visit ebay...maybe buy something to test the password!! HA!

This said this is the 2nd largest data breach in US history. Maybe this will tarnish ebays rep just enough that some other viable alternative can get a fighting chance

After having received a few mail asking to change my password on my account (actually mine are accounts but Ebay do not know ;-))

Now is a must!!

As soon as I log in I am forced to change it. Via mail, phone or... don't remember.

I was so proud of my older account passwords, lowercase and no numbers...all gone.
