How to Keep 0 Feedback Members out of my auctions???

I hate that occassionally I will get these 0 feedback/new members that will bid on my items. They obviously did not even bother to read my listing where I clearly state that 0 feedback members need to contact me before bidding. How do you guys deal with they 0 feedback newbies? Do you cancel their bids?

Quasi_Mojo 10-02-2008 04:12 PM

Isn't there a way to block bidders with 0 feedback?
Or did eBay do away with that?

I, personally, would cancel their bid and then block them. I wouldn't risk selling to somebody with no feedback.

philly387 10-02-2008 04:16 PM

I have sold many times to people with 0 feedback and almost every single one of them pay and I never have a problem with them. But I do believe there is a way to block 0 feedback bidders. You might have to do that when you create the auction.

Here We Go Again 10-02-2008 05:04 PM

As far as I can figure out there is NO way to block ZERO feedback bidders.

Burst 10-02-2008 09:36 PM

Theres a way to block people who have negative feedback, and by region. Other than that, its fine tuning and user-id blocking.

Jonas 10-02-2008 11:01 PM

Some people put auction terms that say 0 feedback bidders are not allowed to bid. Sometimes eBay even enforces it by putting a mark on a buyer's account if the seller has a lot of clout and they complain.

I've found that it's not so much 0 feedback, but low feedback buyers tend to be a bit worse than others.

BooMer 10-02-2008 11:23 PM

Put in Big Red Text on the top of the page is one way.

"Buyers with 0 feedback are not allowed to bid"

But I usually put other stuff when I sell high priced items such as:
No next day shipping to Buyers with less than 15 positive feedback.
Shipping to Paypal Confirmed Address only. No exception!
Paypal and Credit Card fraud will be reported to the authorities.

These things help to prevent fraudulent transactions.

Hope this helps.

There is a option where you can put what number of feedback a buyer has to have. I'm sorry but I just can't think of what it is called right now. You have to click help and add options then it'll show up.

Jonas 10-02-2008 11:31 PM

People say "per auction terms buyers must have X feedback to bid". Sometimes they say it's required to contact me first.

Bidder's with Zero feedback

Come on guys!! We all have had to start out with new eBay accounts - some of us several times. While I agree that you get a lot of NPB's with inexperienced Buyers - most of them do pay and every thing goes fine. Aren't we being just a bit hypocritical here? How would any of us get back to eBay business after suspension if we were blocked from bidding and no one would buy from us because we had no feedback?

GreenBean 10-03-2008 09:43 AM

TBH, a double-edged sword. If many here had not had troubles with buyers,
suspensions would not have happened. With the complete change in ebay policies, it is not unreasonable to consider blocking such buyers. I see blocking
like this as an effective way to control MY account. Not personal but business. Funnily enough they still bid in any case. 0 feedback and 0 IQ. If I
get such bids, I make alternative arrangements.

aking 10-03-2008 09:50 AM

Yea, I wont block anyone with 0 feedback from bidding on my items. I think thats a bit extreme, however I do encourage people with 0 feedback to contact me and at least let me know they plan on paying and how they will pay, etc. Just a little reassurance is all I ask. I dont even cancel bids even though I state it in my listings. Cancelling bids would actually be a bad move on my part.

divine422 10-04-2008 09:20 AM

It depends on the value of what your selling i dont want to waste time relisting high valued items. At this moment i have an auction ending today, its high valued and the highest bidder has zero feedback, whats worse is his account made today. Its also good to check the bidders bidding history...if you see them bidding on like 20 things in the same category all ending around the same time....block him. (Especially if its laptops). Thats how i use to detect those 'nigerian scammers' last year that would bid 1,000,000 on your auction just to win it.

gurusgrafx 10-06-2008 09:56 AM

There is an option to block bidders by feedback rating. I think you can chose from 0-2 or something along those lines. Its in the options. With that said 80% of my 0 feedback buyers pay without problem.

Here We Go Again 10-06-2008 12:19 PM

^^^^^^^^
You are allowed to block bidders with NEG -1 down to NEG -3.
There is NO WAY to block ZERO bidders.

You also can block bidders based on their non-paid strike count.
JUst go to your eBay preferences and block bidders with more than 2 non-payent strikes within 12 months.
It keeps lots of PITA bidders out.

aking 10-06-2008 01:29 PM

I actually just had a 0 feedback member win an item and they paid immediately. :)

gurusgrafx 10-06-2008 01:33 PM

Yeah Here We Go Again is correct, you can only block -1 to -3 buyers.

ambercolour 10-06-2008 01:37 PM

what you need is a script, that when it sees a ebay user with 0 feedback it will automatically remove it and blocks the bidder from bidding for future items as well.

Quasi_Mojo 10-06-2008 04:18 PM

Sure they pay immediately, but what's to stop them from scamming you with a chargeback or falsely filing a claim? You have no idea of their previous buying history.
Fir high priced items, I say block 'em.

becca073 10-06-2008 07:52 PM

And with buyers not able to get negatives anymore, that really doesn't work.

ANTIQUES1 07-12-2009 09:58 PM

Competition opened an account with false contact information and won items off about 20 sellers to harvest names and addresses. I blocked after realizing what was happening after they won 3 items.

I keep in contact with my competitors (they'll always compete, we can't stop them but we hate NPB and ebay alike so better to share blocked ID"s).

Also, there's a mention you can add to your auctions by paying some company who sends out collections and reports to their credit bureaus since it's a legal contract.

im doing that! they have legal right to ask ebay who opened the accout and imagine how pissed off that "friend" would be if they got a collection letter using a friends account to harvest names and addresses to harass.

inverser 07-13-2009 01:54 AM

Recently, I had a buyer with 0 feedback promptly pay for a $800.00 item. Before that, I had a Powerseller with over 2000 feedback NPB on me. Lame.
