My Limit Increases

We always have new and old people asking when they will get limit increases, how long, how much, what to list, etc, etc, etc. I believe, as long as it is not high risk, you list whatever you want. The stuff I list is not very expensive. I list things like toy, figures, keychains, magnets, and pins (like lapel pins) and other misc stuff. But it is all legit, and nothing is Vero or expensive or high risk categories (except for some non-branded phone cases).

Here is a list of my account creation dates and current limits on each account. You will see that the logic behind what accounts have limit increases and which do not is pretty random with little logic on EB's part. These accounts usually get maxed out every month as well.

May2013 100/5000 over 400 transactions ytd
June2013 100/5000 over 180 transactions ytd
August2013 100/5000 over 160 transactions ytd
October2013 150/9000 over 120 transactions ytd
December2013 100/5000 over 60 transactions ytd
December2013 100/5000 over 30 transactions ytd
January2014 10/1000 over 30 transactions ytd
January2014 100/5000 over 30 transactions ytd
January2014 90/9000 over 20 transactions ytd
February2014 10/1000 over 10 transactions ytd
February2014 10/1000 over 20 transactions ytd
March2014 10/1000 1 transactions ytd
March2014 10/1000 3 transactions ytd
March2014 10/1000 over 30 transactions ytd
March2014 90/6000 over 20 transactions ytd
April2014 20/1500 6 transactions ytd

Between all these accounts, only 1 has 1 negative feedback (stupidity on buyers part). This is not for boasting or anything else. Just for speculation on EB's randomness.

What do you do for taxes on these accounts?

If you are making some profit from what you sell, no problem. Selling VeRO is great, but it comes with huge risk.

@BlackLabel
I have not had any accounts go over (nor will they go over) 20K in sales. The account that has over 400 transaction ytd is set up as a business, as well as the accounts with over 150 transactions ytd. I do not intend to have any tax situations yet, but by the end of the year I will probably be doing something.

@GoteBay
The accounts that are not 90 or 100 item limit yet are just selling things to sell for EB experience and FB. I am not taking a loss, but I dont think the proceeds are enough to call a profit either, lol. No Vero.

Oh ok. I asked because I haven't run into the tax issue yet. So even if we have over 200 transactions as long as the revenue doesn't reach 20K it's good?

At 200 transactions or 20K, PayPal must have your SSN or EIN. At 200 transactions, PP demands it. Once you hit 20K AND 200 transactions, they MUST report you to the IRS. They will not report you for just 200 transactions.

Re: My Limit Increases

I am getting similar 2014 numbers.. the increases from january and february just are not happening.. some accounts reaching almost 50 feedback,, Have 1 that is 10/1000 that was Feb 19th... still 10/1000 with 100% 5.0 feedback and 38 dsrs in all categories...

Ebay really is wanting "proof" of identity to get the 100 items anymore. Like the OP, i have had random increases on a few accounts.

Thanks for that

Re: My Limit Increases

I should also add that PP will sometimes ask for your SSN at a sooner point. I believe some members have had that request as early as 50 items. I have always had them ask around 150-170 transactions. Just wanted to mention that so no one thought it was only when you hit 200 in a calendar year.

Re: My Limit Increases

Yes, Ebay Item Limit increases can be hit or miss. My oldest Ebay Stealth Account is still at 100/5000, while my youngest Account [2 months old], just received a 50 Item increase making it 150/5000. With the later Account, I started adding the Tracking Numbers to each item sold, which I didn't do before unless the customer asked for it specifically, and apparently that was enough to get such an early increase, which was a surprise to me. A good surprise of course, but a surprise nonetheless. Granted if you already provide Tracking Numbers to your buyers, then my point is moot. LOL

You don't usually put tracking? That's a big risk don't you think? Buyers can open cases and bring attention to your account, right? I mean you could resolve it with tracking but that's still a tic mark on the account.

If you are talking about PP and the Tax ID regarding US Accounts. Previous years when you get to close to 200 transaction now they will limit accounts from receiving payments. Even if it is well under $20k.

Having run a EIN account for the past 3 years when the 1099k started. I can state 2013 Tax Year was the first year the PayPal had to put the number of transactions on the 1099k. That box was left blank previously.
