| | | | | r00tk3y | 06-18-2014 05:32 AM | Ebay Search Results Question Hi Everyone, I have a question, this one may not pertain to all of you as you may not have a Top Rated Seller account, or be at the top of the search results, so maybe you don't notice what I do, but if you do have either of those, please feel free to pitch in, well pitch in regardless if you do or don't I wanna hear what you have to say.
I want to know if ebay filters the search results, well yes obviously I know that, but does ebay really FILTER per search query. What ive noticed at times is if you type in "Keyword" and then you see the search results, if you hit enter again, sometimes, not always you will see different result ordering.
I sell a product and at the end of the month, as some of you TRS/PWRSELLERS know who are on the first page, you get a surge of sales, approximately every 30 days when the listing renews. Now when I am at the top of the page, its like im getting sales every minute of the day, my phone setup with the ebay app will be vibrating off the hook, but as soon as a couple days go by and the listing is past its "Push to the top" the sales go back down to about 13-15 sales a day where at the end of the month I could see 30 sales in a day. My price is the best on ebay they have to offer for what I sell, I know noone can beat my price for a fact.
But why does my search rank still continue to be lower than the compeitor, hes above me I am below him, and I cant seem to figure out why. My DSR are 5/5, I am top rated, I have a good amount of feedback, almost the same as his, all I can think of is that maybe ebay isn't equally distributing search views, and they let me get a certain amount of sales per day, and then they cut me off. I can't seem to beat this other guys rank no matter my price being WAY better than his and practically offering the same thing, ebay calculates Sell Through Rate, and watchers and all that crap, but I can't fight the current, should I keep swimming along, or what exactly should I do |

| r00tk3y | 06-18-2014 12:41 PM | Re: Ebay Search Results Question I would assume he does, but it doesn't make sense to me, because I am obviously the better deal, and I cant get why people still buy from him? |
| danshan | 06-18-2014 12:50 PM | Re: Ebay Search Results Question Who does you or him, thats all that matters and most products a few different search terms |
| r00tk3y | 06-18-2014 05:23 PM | Re: Ebay Search Results Question Its kind of hard for me to calculate how many views he gets. |
| stanislav | 06-18-2014 06:11 PM | Re: Ebay Search Results Question I have a feeling you are talking about me. |
| r00tk3y | 06-18-2014 06:43 PM | Re: Ebay Search Results Question I doubt it, what is the first letter of the product your selling and the last letter, and I will let you know. |
| stanislav | 06-18-2014 07:13 PM | Re: Ebay Search Results Question The title of my listings starts with 3 and ends in R |

Has your account had any issues, of any type?
This 2nd question might have some bearing.

| stanislav | 06-19-2014 03:08 AM | Re: Ebay Search Results Question I hope you understand that being on top of search results doesn't mean that you will be selling more. There are other ways to bring traffic from outside of ebay to ebay ... |
| Dazzler87 | 06-19-2014 03:27 AM | Re: Ebay Search Results Question I posted a thread similar to this a while back, someone selling something the same as me but was ranked higher, after spending weeks learning about cassini, I got my listing miles better that his, better photos, better description, longer return policy, free shipping, my price was nearly half of his, my account was in better standing he had around 30 negs for one month compared to my 100% positive feedback and near perfect DSR. His account was that bad he lost his trs status and still does not have it back.
But guess what till this day he's still above me and people still paying double the price for his, and the only reason why is the 2 things that I can't change on my account to match his, and that's he has 10x more feedback than me and has been registered on eBay 4 years earlier than me. Them 2 things are more powerful than anything as eBay trusts him more than me dispite him having a few bad months and losing his trs status. |
| stanislav | 06-19-2014 03:40 AM | Re: Ebay Search Results Question Agreed. It's the amount of feedbacks and their annual sales. |

| GreenBean | 06-19-2014 04:29 AM | Re: Ebay Search Results Question 4 years means senority in today's ebay terms.
He's managed enough 'good' selling to take the poorer times.
He fits the ebay ideal.
However, he could still tumble down.

I believe so at one point, then i ran out of stock
Has your account had any issues, of any type?
Yes but it was way back, so it shouldnt have any effects |
| thready | 06-21-2014 10:41 PM | Re: Ebay Search Results Question Althought nice, I think its not all about appearing at the top in the search results. The sales I get from being at the top of the results comes in short bursts.
I agree with repeat customers, other sources of traffic and other ebay listings on the same account attracting/generating more buyers. These are the sources that brings in steady and consistent sales everyday. |

The time now is 09:39 PM. | |
