Setting up an autoresponder through gmail

If I set up an autoresponder on my gmail account, will my messages get through?

has anyone tried this?

I just want a basic We will respond with a certain time frame etc...

I have try it and it works. It will answer to all incoming emails but not to the Ebay user asking you a question via Ebay platform... You have to go the Ebay route to answer this kind of queries.
