Help! Can't get past the IP problem.
 

Been on here several months, bought the Guide, set up about 5 stealth accounts.

Here is what I have tried:

1. Dialup....way too slow. 45 minutes to list a single item.

2. Driving around town to various hotspots...works but consumes so much time

3. VPN from a nationally recognized service. Looks like the two accounts (one brand newly created on the service, the other 30 days old with 7 sales) can't even get the Summary pages to load. Will post more in another message.

4. home internet service.....one works fine but never changes IP address. techs say I will have the same IP address no matter what if at all possible so they can give me net stability.

5. Added second home network....still give me the same IP every time. Hooked to my phone modem so it is more than just turning off the router. Have tried changing router MAC and it works, just very time consuming.

6. I don't even know what a dongle IS. I do not have a cell phone other than my TracFones.

Can anybody give me a solution? If the answer (usually MM78's) is the dongle route, please give me something to go with like what type of phone to buy, what service plan, what to ask for with this dongle thingy.

Dongle is an old word from way back when this stuff was coming out. The new word is mobile broadband access point/3G card etc. Look up tmobile/at&t mifi, Verizon jetpack, you will get the idea. Many prepaid options too.

I have spent about $150 just trying to solve this IP problem and still stuck using the JettaNet. (VW + hotspots)


Ummmm........will I be hooking my laptop to my phone to get internet? I really don't want to try and use the screen on any tiny little portable devices.

I just ordered a unlocked tmobile hotspot (ZTE MF61), $45 on eBay, and will be using Red Pocket Mobile, $10 a month for 1gb.

This is absolutely a no no if you don't want your account to be linked to other suspended or "soon to be suspended" accounts

Yes...I am a moron. That said........what will 1GB get you(me_? I will do nothing but list items and print (.xps) shipping labels. Would you be able to connect your laptop to that phone to do work?

It's just a Internet hotspot. It has no phone features, just a data connection. That's why it costs 50 bucks instead of 500. 1GB should be good unless you're a heavy user or have tons of accounts. Just use it for eBay and nothing else; you can always buy more data per month if you need it (which I doubt).

If you have a smartphone with hotspot capabilities, that'll work too. Some you have to pay extra fees to activate this feature (they try to get you for everything) or you can jailbreak your device. Most iPhone or Android smartphones have this feature, heck my Android tablet has a hotspot feature.
