First time Needed to verify ID by Text through eBay Today
 

Usually paypal has been giving a pin and when you receive the automated call you

need to put in the pin and if you don't have access to the number it's been a mess as discussed here

I went through re listing an item on a month old account, second item that I'd be selling

And it came up, we do not recognize the computer , we need to verify your ID by "phone" and gave the option of text or call

I chose text and it was almost like that registration pin, I received a text with a 4 digit pin, typed it in eBay and the listing went through

Anyone else get this recently from eBay? They are really stressing to keep a working phone number on File

And I wanted to add , this is the same computer / portable browser , with all the cookies, and I use the same ATT hotspot , which has a limited range and I use it with this account so the last two IPs were very similar al but the last 3

Other than when using a new computer, no, I've never had it triggered randomly like that myself. Maybe they really do want to keep that number active.

i listed an item 2 days ago, also my second item and got the same. they sent me a pin on my mobile before to be able to list it.:ranger:

I guess with the recent data breach , we may see this and other precautions more often

Here is a fix get an auctiva acc. The only time they call u is when u list ur first item on eBay . then they never call u again if u have any questions just ask. I have for eBay acc and every acc has an auctiva acc.

Have not had this happen either...it's like all your cookies and objects got cleared randomly...

Yes, that is actually rather normal.

I've had this happen a few years back. I always make them call rather than text though.

But if I stick to using a 3rd party lister, it never pops up anymore

I checked and cookies were all there , they do the same thing with paypal when adding a bank saying they don't recognize my device when I only log in with one device

THis is on a device that you have been using on the same account?
Used 1 browser only? Tried a different browser yet?

Have you tried using another computer to log in and see if it does the same perhaps?

No , I had access to the phone number so it wasn't a problem that I needed to try and find a way around it,

I just clicked and received the text and put the code in and that was that, just something I never had to do on eBay

Was this a new or aged account?

It was a newer account so that is why it asked for this verification.

But I have a lot of accounts that have text+ numbers, so I make sure I keep them active by logging in every 2 weeks and I make a few texts and call to myself, that way I keep the number

If the account is dormant for usually 28 days they recycle your number, I'm not exactly sure of that 28 day so I been just doing a rotation And use each number every two weeks
