Do I have to List an item to set up account?

Hello again guys, might be a stupid question but when I set up a new ebay account do I have to list the first item to get the confirmation number or is their another way to to get the code without listing the first item?

You can go around , and set the seller account up without listing an item, it's how I make all my seller accounts

Follow the link and click on "set up seller account now" (bottom of step 1).

Fill out the info and on the next page they will do the verify by text step.
